No chasing going on in Vanderburgh county but a lot of buck movement. I saw 3 does and 3 bucks this am. All three bucks got close enough to shoot, but only one was a shooter. The shooter was a 140 class ten pointer. The other two were about 120 class eight pointers. High, but narrow width. Body size was a big difference between the 2 eights and the ten pointer. Unfortunately he slipped up on me while I was grunting in a doe and a 2 1/2 year old 8 pointer to try and get them close enough for decoys..They decoyed all right - the 140 class ten pointer came slipping right by me from the rear (the way they are not supposed to come from) and he was 30 yards past me before I caught his movement out of the corner of my eye. I grunted at him and he stopped, but started up again before I could get my crossbow up. He was out of range in a heart beat. I saw him again a later, but he paid very little attention to my grunts or the "Primos Can". I'll be back over there this PM and maybe he will make a return visit.......or maybe his big brother.. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Tomorrow Woodmaster and myself will be hitting New Harmony Park. Hopefully they are moving up there too. .

It has been a rough two weeks of vacation for me so far, deer sightings have been few and far between with buck sightings even more so. This past weekend was the lone bright spot, I took another doe Friday evening, passed up a young 5x2 Sat. morning, and saw two small bucks Sun. morning.

Due to the heavy fog I didn't go out untill 10:30. Jumped three does right behind my house. Got settled in and at 12:30 saw a rack coming over the ridge, WOW. He is a dandy but would not come any closer than 50 yards. He walked by a tree I have hunted. 15 minutes later another buck (Nice but not as big) came over the ridge at about 80 yards and kept on going. Saw two more does and then at around 4:00 it started raining, again, yuck, I am sick of all the rain....

Things are slowing down just in time for the gun opener.
Post rut hunt will save more bucks than the OBR ever though it would.

Things are slowing down just in time for the gun opener. Post rut hunt will save more bucks than the OBR ever though it would. You can a say that again. I never saw a deer in KY. I heard very little shooting going on, but their season is a week old. I stopped by the taxidermy shop in Boonville and maybe two good bucks had been checked in all morning. All the hunters that I talked to said there was very little shooting going on around them. It is S-L-L-L-L-O-O-O-O-W-W-W-W. .

Had a great morning, besides the fog..First thing after daylight I had a little 4 point almost run me over(well he ran beside by like 5 or 8 feet).A few minutes later I had 2 nice does come through in almost the same spot,I wish I would have got a bonus tag now..Then about an hour after that(it's around 8:30 now)I had shooter buck after shooter buck come through, just 200yds away on the ridge beside me.I counted 7 really nice bucks in high 130's and up,the biggest I'm guessing was pushing 170+..2 were chasing does and the others were acting like bloodhounds tracking a hot doe,I tried the can and everything, they weren't interested...I seen the last buck around 12:30..I've never been this pumped on opening morning, never seen this many nice bucks in the morning..Now I have to come home for the darn thanksgiving dinner(we have ours a week early so everyone can get together)I didn't want to live..I'll be back in the morning, and about 150 yds closer to where I was today,I can't wait..

I shot a nice 9 pointer around noon yesterday. Found blood after about 40 yards and it was pink with bubbles in it. Kept tracking and it got fainter and fainter. After about 600 yards I decided to wait and look for him this morning. Found him laying in the creek about 200 yards from where I quit yesteday. The shot was quartering away at 45 yards with a 44 mag handgun with very hot handloads. Took out one lung and hit his heart but did no damage to it.

Rut just stared going here in my neck of the woods. Saturday I saw three bucks chasing does and shot the last one, which was a nice eight. My dad had a doe walk past him at about 7:30 with an eleven pointer following he shot him and then had a small six and four pointer continue after the doe. Sunday I had a doe walk by with a nice eight following her. Today on my way to work, I had a nice ten-pointer walk in front of my car like he was after something and didn’t care about anything else. The gun season definitely hit the right time for me.

What a difference 200 yards makes. I moved to another stand this morning and had three bucks come by me. A spike... then a 2 1/2 year old 8 pointer and then a 3 1/2 year old 8 pointer. In that order. I kept thinking the next one will be Mr. Big. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) I passed them all. The3 1/2 year old had a screwed up antler or he would have come home with me. NO DOES....

Seing a few deer, but no shooters so far.
I had a LOT of orange company this mornimg.
You would thuink with the KY season coming to an end they would die off.
Maybe it is a last ditch effort to fill the freezers.
Not a whole lot of shots.
I only counted 4 that were anywhere close.
Going to hit it hard the rest of the weekend..

Spent entire day in Ky, and didn't see crap for the first time this year. My hunting partner only saw a couple does.
My day wasn't a total waste, around 1030 this morning i had a pack 6 or 7 yote's come in and i killed all four that i shot at. ;D
15 min later had a guy walk into MY woods and started yelling at me saying that i was trespassing on his ground, and that he's been hunting that ground all season long. I was kinda nervous cause he had his gun, not on his shoulder but was holding it like he might want to use it, so that was what i addressed to him first. He said he had permission from such and such, (he's being a jerk the whole time). I pointed out to him how every bit of woods around my property (that i leased) has been logged except for my 50 acres, "ironic don't you think", i said. This dipstick still isn't convinced and by this time, i'm ready to blow a fuse! I was ready to call the local CO. It dawned on me that i saved a small property map that was printed off the puter at the county seat in Dixon in my wallet. As i handed him the paper, i told him to keep his blank on his property or any surviors will be prosecuted. On my way into sebree to get a bite to eat, the CO was getting a bite to eat, and i had to stop in and give him a "heads up" on the situation. The CO was very friendly, and said he's had his problems in the past with the same dude. And he'll have a chat with him this evening.
Bottom line, if this guy would have approached me differently, i'm sure things would have worked out better for both of us.

Sure am glad for the rest between firearms and muzzle loader. Have hunted roughly 2/3 rds of available time and have only seen maybe 15 deer total. Most at at least 200 yards or traveling at warp speed. Maybe now that we are into Dec. most of the others will be out of the woods and I will not be boxed for a while. Going to be looking for a new place this summer. Heck the farmer that I am hunting on must have let in at least 10 others, he wont even discuss a lease. Oh well I have been skunked befor.

It so far has been a good season for me hunting the first time with my son. Glad we are into Dec now and the big crowds are gone and the woods are quiet again. Although I have not filled Taken any deer as of yet. I am still hopeful That my son and I will get one yet. (if I can just get him too sit still) All that is left is too fill my Doe tags. Going too give my cross bow a run for its money till the end. Good Luck all ;D

Hunting buddy quit for season, lost his private land, oh well have not seen anything there in quite a while. Hunted on the farm yesterday, Got in ladder about 2 at 4:00 heard a quad crossing the corn field, yup. parked west of me. Walking sounds coming my way hey he may have chased a deer my way. Nope orange hat. Whistled and waved. Idiot went up tree about 8 feet about 40 yards west of me. Watched other direction and gave up at 5:15. May only go back during week in mornings. It appears that we will by buying all of our meat this year from grocery stores. This season sure stinks. Gotta find a new place.
