Handguns (so called because of shorter barrels and no shoulder stock) that fire HPR ammunition are different than rifles that fire HPR ammunition. Maybe instead of rifles that shoot Pistol Cartridge ammunition after passage we should work to get the overall hand gun legislation to say that handguns must shoot ammunition of only these calibers and specify calibers that are standard hand gun ammunition type not HPR that has had a hand cannon modified to shoot it. Starting at 357 and going up to 44 mag or maybe even 50 at the utmost. At one time I would have agreed.
The laws defining hand gun cartridges are not in accord with the 'short to medium range' agenda.
This is something we all know, and have always known.
But then, neither are the HPR's allowed to take deer using depredation permits, or to hunt yotes and squirrels.
I can legally go hunt squirrel with a 460 weatherby magnum, and no one seems to care.
Why?
Because it is a NON ISSUE, just like HPR's in pistols.
There have been little if any problems so far.
Up until a couple of months ago, I would have supported changing the pistol laws myself, until it dawned on my little brain one simple fact:
it has not yet caused ANY of the 'gloom and doom' problems it was claimed to.
If it is not causing a PROVEN problem, then it IS no problem.
The problem lies only within those who can't get past the fact it isn't hurting them, but won't shut up.
You know, like the little kid who is screaming both 5 minutes before and 3 minutes after a shot they never felt in the first place.
Once it sinks in its already done, they shut up.
It didn't hurt, but they were so sure it would they could not get past the fear of what was to come until they were told they missed it when it happened.
;D
PCR's and High Power Pistols have nothing in common.
That is a dodge, and that is all it ever was.
If you are against the high end pistols, spend your time fighting that and stop pretending that fight lies within PCR's.
You have the right to be for or against anything.
But as an adult you will be expected to provide some reasoning behind your position.
btw, just too be sure you know, 'you' is not in reference to you personally.
I use the term quite often, and sometimes it is taken the wrong way I have noticed.
