This time of year I shoot my way through a few boxes of 12 gauge game loads. Usually Federal as they are readily available at the local Walmart. Today I picked up a couple more boxes and noticed that the hulls were labeled differently. No Federal logo but instead a picture of a bird and the words Pine Creek. I've searched around on the internet but can't find any info. Does anyone here know anything about these? Here's a pic along with a standard Federal shell. I'm sure it won't make any difference to the rabbits but I'm just curious. Thanks

I don't necessarily think things are any more unstable now than ever. It's just now there's no escaping the constant reminder of any negativity. It's on your phone, t.v., computer, and print. Keeps the population constantly living in fear and at odds with one another. As for the upcoming election; I've already accepted the inevitable outcome.

By my count I need one more squirrel to equal last year's total. I hunted from 930 until 2 today and only saw one. He disappeared into his hole as I tried to put the sneak on him. Other than the lackluster squirrel action I did see a forky, a doe, and two rabbits. I think I will go back down tomorrow with the shotgun and look for those rabbits to be in the same vicinity.

My buddy took me to his place this morning. He insisted on pushing a few sections and letting me post and shoot. I ended up with two. Now I think I'll head to my FILs farm and see if there are any squirrels or rabbits to be had.

Went to Roush today. I hunted from 11 to 2 and had a great time. I forgot how much better it is to actually have snow on the ground. When you find a spot with a bunch of fresh tracks and droppings, you get that feeling there's a rabbit nearby. And then suddenly he takes off running....it's a rush. You just can't beat it. Bagged rabbits numbers 8 and 9 for the season.

Welcome to the forum. There are several decent public land opportunities near your part of the state. You can check the Indiana DNR website for a list of all the public lands. Sounds like you have a nice assortment of deer rifles for public and private ground.

Nice looking rig. Under 200k miles and well under $15000.

Question...so Colorado has banned Trump from the ballot right? Is this just for their primary election? If Trump is the Republican nominee won't he have to be included on the Colorado ballot in the general election?

Sounds like a real pain. What you are describing is why I tend to drive my vehicles until they are completely used up. I hate car shopping. Best of luck in your quest.

I'm not sure when they switched to birch but I purchased a new 10/22 in the late 70's/early 80's and it came with a walnut stock. My 10/22 is a 1974 model and also has a walnut stock.

One more for team 4. I took my shotgun and my .22 to the farm today. Walked field edges and went two for two on rabbits. Had lunch, switched weapons, and got a squirrel. Slow going for the squirrel activity today. This will make for a good small game dinner tomorrow. Do you have a choke in that slug barrel, or standard for slug (improved cyl?) If standard, how does it pattern? Are the sights right on? I had Bullseye69 on here thread my slug barrel and I use it for turkeys with an Indian Creek choke tube. Different shells shoot to very different poa. I remember not being able to shoot the iron sights on one shell. Anyway, incredibly handy with that short barrel. Makes it a completely different gun from a standard length and great to carry. It is just a standard improved cylinder slug barrel. It shoots a nice even pattern with the one ounce loads of #6 shot that I use on rabbits. As for the sights, I actually have removed the rear sight from the rear sight ramp. This allows a much more unobstructed view of the front post which I just use more or less like a bead. But, it shoots right on to the point of aim. I have looked at buying a 21" vent rib barrel but they are nearly the cost of an entire gun. When I first got into rabbit hunting I tried using my 28" vent rib barrel on this gun. Most of the places I would find rabbits were so thick that it was a real handicap trying to maneuver around with that so one day I tried the slug barrel and it's been a game changer.

For those of you shooting .22mag and .17hmr, are you using scopes with set 100 yards parallax or AO? Anyone using 50 yard set parallax scope for these rounds? While scope shopping I noticed that manufacturers sell "rimfire" scopes which all seem to have a fixed 50 yard parallax. The way I understand it, the only difference between the Vortex diamondback and diamondback rimfire, is the parallax setting. Looks to be the same with the Leupold scopes as well. Are the fifty yard parallax scopes really just suited for 22lr and not so much the 22 mag and 17hmr? Planning to use this gun for longer range squirrel hunting and groundhog whack-a-mole. Thanks

What scope magnification range are you guys using on the .17?

What are your longest squirrel kills with the .17? With the bullets being light and pushed easily by wind, 100 yards is the farthest I'll shoot and my scope is set for zero at that range. I just have to aim a little low at 75 yards. I'd probably go just over the top of their head if holding for center of the head at 75. 100 yards would be plenty far for me. Probably would double my current effective range with my 10/22. Although, I may be handicapped on the longer shots by running a fixed 4x scope currently.
