Did it look like regular yellow corn? It did. Most likely that would have been eaten within a day or so?

Do you have a picture? It's not hard to tell the difference. Sorry no pic. Truth be told I put the bead right at the base of his neck and the shot kinda did a number on his crop. When I went to remove the crop during field dressing it was not intact. Just pieces of crop and many kernels of corn.

Right on. I guess they had started planting at end of last week but the rainfall had kept them from finishing the large field I hunt around.

Upon inspection of yesterday's gobbler I found his crop to be full of corn. Am I correct in believing that the crop contents have been recently consumed? If that's the case then it would appear someone is feeding or baiting with corn. I don't know much about farming but it seems a bit early for corn to be on the stalk. Anybody else find this with your bird? Thanks

I smoked mine at 225. Internal temp of 165. Thanks Hornzilla. How long did that take?

Questions for you smokers out there. What temp are you smoking breasts at and at what internal temp are you removing breast meat from smoker? I know time will vary based on thickness of meat and grill temp but what's a ballpark cook time? Thanks

Went out today for my first hunt in over a month. Ended up being one of the most enjoyable times I've ever had in the woods. Weather was great. Got into a brush blind at 4 and a few minutes later noticed deer feeding on a ridge across from me. Watched them for over an hour until they wandered away. My cousin also saw deer nearby. Very relaxing and peaceful end to season and start of the year. Cheers Matt

I appreciate the fact that I've got some sweet private ground to hunt. That and the fact I've got a couple in the freezer keeps my morale higher than a Georgia pine. Of course I'd like to kill a wall hanger just like the next guy. But if it happened every day I might not savor the moment as much if you know what I mean.

I have had the good fortune to kill six deer. This is my fourth hunting season. Started when I was 31 years old. Will hunt till I die. Figure I got about 70 years left in me.

after he refused to give the deer, I would have got his license plate and give him my info. Tell him when you want your new found unexplainable bad luck to stop, I will pay you for the rack. Otherwise you asked for it. I like the cut of your jib sir

Yes I have shot two deer with tula 123 grain hollow points. They shoot to same poi as tula fmj out of my rifle. First deer with this ammo was a buck at 60 yards.very small entrance and good expansion. Right through the heart and golf ball size exit. Second was the doe and this time the bullet seems to have split in half lengthwise. Don't laugh but gun is a SKS rifle which I refurbished the stock on this summer. Gun is a good shooter and I have been impressed by this caliber even with inexpensive HP's. I also have a "sporty" SKS (Norinco) I bought back in the mid 1980's. Had the military stock replaced with a laminated more sportier, removed the bayonet & cleaning rod & lugs, replaced the 10-shot magazine with a fixed 5-shot one, and installed a peep sight instead of the issued rear sight. Stock is made by Reinehart Fajen, of Warsaw, Mo. very accurate but I've never used it for hunting. Sounds like you should let it bark.

The little 7.62 X 39 MM is a fine short range load for deer under 100 yards. I have a CZ-527 chambered in that caliber, but also at one time owned a Ruger M-77 MKII in 7.62 X 39 MM and shot 7 deer with it including a head shot on a Buck @ an even 100 yards. Never lost a deer using this caliber and it is ideal for a recoil shy or beginning deer hunter. I am guessing the brand of ammo you're using is WOLF BRAND 123 grain hollow point?? I used my reloads for deer and used Winchester older Silvertip bullet 150 grain for the .30-30 Win. with IMR-4198 powder (23.0 grains) in Winchester brand brass. I was going to ask the same along with rifle type. I'm using what I call my Ak15 or AR47 if you like. Currently using remington soft points but only have 6 left so may be back to the wolf mc sp, as I can't find the remington again. Yes I have shot two deer with tula 123 grain hollow points. Shot a doe last week at 105 yards with a hollow point 7.62*39 round. Bullet came to rest in opposite front shoulder and she dropped twenty yards from impact. Would not take this shot with my improved cylinder slug barrel equipped 870. I was shooting from half way up a steep hillside bordering the cut corn field she was feeding in.

No complaints. Been wanting to harvest a deer while hunting from the ground without a blind.Thursday I was fortunate enough to cross that off my list. Looking forward to some cold.

Hello everyone. My name's Matt, I'm from Fort Wayne.I hunt in Noble and Wells counties primarily. I have enjoyed reading this forum for the last few months. I've only been hunting deer for four years so I'm always looking to learn. Also enjoy hunting squirrels and rabbits and gave turkeys a try this past spring. Definitely hooked on them. Glad to be aboard.
