6 landowners , aprox. 3000 acres and most told me that they had trouble filling 1/3 to 1/2 of their permits yet there is one that gets tags every year that said he shot about 80 deer which is below his average of 90 or more per summer. Then come deer season very few deer were seen by local hunters who usually have no problem filling their tags.

talking to local farmers. 120 or more permits given out just locally. That's about double from the year before and believe me the deer numbers aren't doubled around here.

What I can't understand is why they reduced our county from a 4 to a 3 last year thus denying us the late antlerless season but the summer depredation tags have been increased . Makes no sense to me.

We are all human and I think it is natural that we have remorse when it comes to taking a life even if it meant to be food for us meat-eaters. That is why we strive to dispatch the animal as quickly and humanely as possible. When you are behind the weapon you are in control and it is up to you as to whether or not to take the animal . Don't give up on hunting .If you don't want to harvest an animal at this time try taking a camera and keep enjoying the great outdoors!

anything with antlers less than 3" is considered antlerless for tagging purposes

I took one a couple of years ago with my Savage and smokeless and got it scored for the MZ book and the scorer said it would be no problem then a month later I received my application and money back from the longhunter's book saying that it was denied due to using smokeless powder. It is in the Hoosier book .

Woody add 2 does to team 3 for me. Took them Monday afternoon overlooking a fresh picked cornfield . Used my 358 Hoosier and shot a 100# doe @ 162 yds. then 5 minutes later a 110# doe @196 yds.

if we had to do it over again I think I would have hunted the west side about where 39 's Southeast corner is. We looked it over as we were leaving and seemed to have a better view and saw a couple of tree rubs.
