Took me 3 hours to walk a mile today. I specifically walked areas I've never been in, didn't find a lot of sign, but what I did find was really good. Walked up on a spot thinking to myself it would be a good place for a buck to bed. Took one more step and he blew out from behind some brambles, guess I had that one figured out.
The only other deer I saw were does and they were 10 yards from my car 4 minutes after shooting ended, which means they probably were bedded less than 50 yards away.

I've always called it corner hopping and I do it occasionally. I try to be extremely careful when I'm hugging lines on any property but mistakes happen.
I think I even had a post here asking Morrison about it.

I would tap the forward assist to make sure it locked up completely. The side charger doesn't have a forward assist.

The only reason I didn't use mine this year is because my ruger american is so much lighter. I bought it because I figured ARs would be banned by now. I expected the same, but TRY to take them. Lol. I do not see it happening, at least not without a really big firefight first. Be that as it may, I sold mine off only because they are just not me and my style of guns. I dont shoot the kind of volume they represent, not care for the weight, and especially the noise of cycling and finicky nature that causes jams. Recreation is one thing, in the woods, just not for me. I do love the platform and comfort, so certainly cant say I'd never own another. Noise was another issue. I gingerly cycled mine in the dark and got a dreaded "click" when I tried to shoot a doe. Zero chance you can cycle a new round in without blowing them out.

Side charging? I have one of those too. It's an accurate upper for the price. Yes sir. I was surprised. Side charging and only $259 with free shipping. Waiting to check for accuracy now... Sitting in the woods now with a virgin AR15 in .350 Legend. I hit the buy button on a Bear Creek Arsenal 20" complete upper just over a week ago. It arrived at my door step in 3 days! I had also ordered a couple of mags and they came the same day. I assembled a stripped lower I had in the safe and headed to the range. Less than 1 box of Winchester Super X 180gr and I was dialed in. I already have my buck, but hoping to see a nice doe. Update to follow... Side charging? I have one of those too. It's an accurate upper for the price.

And sitka started their 20% off sale so I also ordered a stratus vest and incinerator gloves.

Wasn't black Friday but I picked up a pair of sitka stratus pants for $240 shipped, normally $300

Verified again the my bow is good. Limiting myself to 30 yards since I haven't been shooting a ton. Plus my arrows can get a little wonky if the broadhead isn't indexed just perfect. Back out Friday. Probably be still hunting through some thick stuff, better odds of getting a shot this time of year than if I sit somewhere. I use to do a ton of hunting like that walk slow than slow down more I meet a guy at a WMA that’s all he did said he was very successful at it but if you walked more than a mile you were going to fast. I slowed way down took a few steps looked around for sometime and then a few more you’d be amazed at how much stuff your walking right by By far my favorite way to bow hunt. I've had some success this way but haven't closed the deal yet. One of my life goals is to shoot a buck in his bed this way.

Honestly, after watching a THP video last year and the hunting beast, they way they shoot, i'm not surprised by this at all.
From the little I've seen, which is little so I could unfairly characterize this. I want no part of Wisconsin gun season.

After the first weekend of gun season and as the rut winds down, I tend to focus on staging areas in the evening and bedding in the morning

I don’t remember this year but in years past they would put out the military/refuge draws out first then afterwards (weeks?) came the SP draws. Just had to either be on the emailing list for notifications or keep checking back. This is how I remember it being this year.

I tried to put in for the State Park hunt this year during the draw session. The options never showed up for me. Anyone aware of why that may be? First question would be, when did you look for them?

I've always heard they're EHD survivors.

I think it's because it takes so long now that it just makes sense to swap the whole thing.

Hopefully he and others learned from this. Just cause you can do something. Doesn't mean you should.
