Clifty Park is having thiers the next two days. If any of you come through the North Gate say hi. I'm up here roasting hot dogs in the gatehouse.

I’ll be there the second hunt. Have they removed any of the invasive underbrush yet? Last I had talked to someone they were working on it.

They sprayed a huge section of roadside by the pool last year. But only one side of the road. 🤔 much of that connecting road is reclaimed fields-- a wilderness of autumn olive and Japanese honeysuckle. Some of the wooded areas are very nice though.

I’ll be hunting Versailles the next two days with a buddy. I’ve never actually been drawn for a park hunt before, does anyone have any advice for Versailles? They’re not assigning zones, it’s wide open.

I’ve hunted that place for 15+ years. What used to be a nice hardwoods is now being overgrown with that autumn olive which makes it very hard to shoot through with archery equipment. I know it’ll never be removed in the woods without killing native plants unfortunately. 😏

I'm drawn for Lincoln tomorrow and Tuesday but I'm not going. So thick in there you might as well bow hunt.

Take a stand a stay put. If you aren't the guy shooting right off the guys that are will push deer around when they move around tracking or dragging.

We spent a lot of time scouting Hoosier National this year and planned on hunting it all week and not going to Versailles at all. We got drawn for the late cave river valley hunt as well and it peeked our interest more because it’s small and I can’t recall the last draw hunt they had there. Well we got some deer out of Hoosier National this weekend so we figured we’ll do the first day at Versailles. I’ve heard scouting there is almost painful as there are so many hunters packed in that it almost doesn’t matter. The horse camp east of the gate? Off old fire tower rd?

They turned the old saddle barn into a horse camp. It's at the top of the hill to the right as you are heading to the campground.

I just got home from spring mill. Nothing to show for it. Did see three and one was a super nice buck chasing a doe at Mach 10. No way they were stopping. It’s so think in there it’s hard to shoot very far at all. Tons of beech saplings that carry their leaves forever.

My son and I spent 2 Days at Versailles hunt. We did not see any deer, very little shooting I have not heard the total count. Way over hunted and county has had high bonus antlerless limit for several years. There is no population problem in parks anymore and don't understand why they hunt them so much? Once every 3-4 years would be plenty.

I would agree with the above comment. I know the last brown county hunt they killed hardly any deer and there are a bunch of hunters in there each day. I saw one in the two days I was there last, but the guy rattling and grunting above me on the hill spooked him away. There were more shots fired at spring mill than I thought there would be with as few people as there were. Be curious to see what the count is for that first hunt.

As a youngster growing up around the park the population was ridiculous. I could understand farmers around park being upset as it was nothing to see 100+ deer in ag fields daily. Today those same fields you rarely see a deer in them. Typical government management, they over do it. LOL.

Been saying that for years, they need a hunt every couple to 3 yrs only. Almost not worth going anymore. Couple buddies hunted Pot Crk and saw ZERO in 2 entire days. Ouch.
