I have my buck skinned and quartered, but sitting in a freezer until after I get back from WI to take to processor. My question is this... Is there any problem with it just sitting there? Should I wrap the meat in anything to keep it from spoiling? I can't get it to the processor till Dec. 7th or so.

Put me down for an 8 pointer! Got him yesterday you can read the story in live from the stand post. Also, my doe has not been added in yet either. Team 12.

Well this day turned into the most memorable hunt I've ever been part of. Before we went back to track my buck, we decided to hang a stand about 300 yards down and across the field. There's a shallow duck pond in this field with two islands. As we were hanging the stand I turned and on the other side of the pond, here comes my buck! He was limping and we now know my gun was shooting low (going to get new scope rings asap-she was fine last week). So I empty my gun and instead of him running away, he jumped in the water and swam to the island! He bedded down, and I was able to get a shot off and anchor him. Has to wade across and drag him out of the water. Surprisingly, he actually looked smaller from the stand. I'm blessed! This was my last day to hunt and I'm thanking God for this deer.

drs - Man, sorry to hear that. I agree the rut is just starting. I thought it had started, but based on what I saw today it's peak time right now

Bucks are finally moving! Hunting family farm near Greenville, KY. Had a nice young 8 pointer come under my stand. He spooked when I raised my rifle but stopped 20 yards away behind some cedar branches. Took the shot and saw him mule kick. However, I only have two drops of blood and that's it. Friend coming to help me track him. Wouldn't you know it, a monster chased two does by a few minutes after! Oh well, I'm happy I got a shot at something. Today is my last day to hunt. Seen 5 deer this morning two does two bucks and one unidentified. Better than opening day for sure!

Heading to the stand this afternoon for my second to last time of the season. After this week, we head up to Wisconsin to visit family for Thanksgiving. Probably do some goose hunting up there. Hope I see one of the big guys I have on my trail camera today!

Well I had an eventful morning in the stand today, in spite of coming home empty handed. Had a spike buck chase a doe through the woods to my left around 7 am. Half hour later, the spike and doe cam back, this time with a wide 8 shooter buck! Unfortunately, they moved on fast without giving me a shot. Add to that a coyote and bobcat sighting, plus a family of blue jays that wouldn't leave my area, and I'd say it was still a great day in the woods!

Exciting evening hunt in central Kentucky. Shot a doe at 20 yards and watched her hobble across a field to a tree line. Trailed her a hundred yards or more then busted her off her bed. Will go out tomorrow and finish tracking. Good blood all the way. Have a nice 8 on trail cam I'm hoping will come say hello to me in the morning! By the way that doe is my first bow kill, hopefully we recover.

Sat in the stand from 2:00 until shooting time ended down in central KY at our family farm. Wind was all over the place, ended up getting winded by a deer that was, I thought, upwind of us. Saw nothing else. Trail cam shows little activity since Monday. This is the same place that was crawling last Friday morning. Hopefully colder mornings get everything moving again. Unless we receive some MUCH COLDER weather, Deer movement will be mostly at night. I saw three Doe out in my back field, here in Central Kentucky, yesterday evening after legal hunting hours. What County are you hunting?? Muhlenburgh Co

Second bow hunt ever for me today. I was smoking the bullseye in target practice, but shooting at a deer is another story :-) Lets just say there's an arrow in a tree that I'll be able to show my children someday! Had a blast tho! Saw 7 deer at dusk all too far out but pretty to watch. Love being in the woods!

If this helps anyone, Walmart on east side of Evansville has 60%-80% off all turkey gear. Decoys, calls, etc. someone looking to add a hen or two to a spread would definitely benefit. Bought a $35 primo jake for $9. Turkey chairs for $5. Hope this helps someone!

Does the bird have to be taken in Indiana or can it be from anywhere? I hunt in KY is why I ask. Seems like you're saying it can be from any state, just wanting to clarify for myself...
