Put my boys, Eli and Travis down for my team. They’re too young for accounts on here, but they are turkey slayers!

My neighbor just fanned one in at 10:30 this morning. That's how I shot mine this year... got him within 20 yards and let him have it. FUN!

Had a quick hunt with my 5 year old son this morning, and boy was it exciting! He didn't connect, but we had a tom gobbling on the roost come right up to the field we were hunting and charge our strutter decoy. Poor kid missed, but I think he's handling it better than his father. Would have been a bird for all of the Russ men who can hunt (youngest is 2). Next time!!

I wouldn't be afraid to keep that bird and eat it just remove the the bad spot. I have cleaned countless numbers of ducks and geese that had every thing from insect larva to old shot in their meat and I processed it and ate it, I am still hear. OR........this could be the year you give that person who has bugged you for years to give him some wild turkey meat a slice of heaven. The one year we did very well on geese in Feb all the breast meat was processed for jerky. I was amazed at what was in there. Steel shot of all sizes. Lead shot of all sizes. .177 and .22 cal pellets from a pellet gun. .22 lr bullets, both all lead and copper plated. I was expecting to find an arrowhead too. I wonder if the tumor in the turkey was formed around shotgun shot? That’s kind of what I’m thinking. Could have even been from this year.

My opinion is if the bird acted normal and he appeared healthy then discard that one breast half and keep everything else. I agree with woody that is probably an old spur wound or an old wound from something. He was definitely acting normal, had a hen with him and gobbled like crazy to my calls. I had someone else tell me they had a bird like this and they just cut out the abscess thoroughly and it was all good.

Got a Kentucky bird this morning, and it seems to have a tumor or something in the breast meat. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?
