I had spaced the fact that the leg zippers on my old camo bibs have failed terribly. I'm too cheap to just run out and spend $300 for new camo, especially when it's only a problem with the zippers. They've been wearing bad for years and I've tried all sorts of remedies, graphite, dry lubes, soap, etc. They're just shot. So Mama and me put our heads together and popped a few snap fasteners in place. That'll do me for now: Been there and done that a few times...

Question for all you expert smokers out there. I plan on firing up the Masterbuilt electric smoker this weekend with a about a 10 lb beef brisket. Any idea about how long that should take, and what my final temp should be? Thanks in advance guys. It's pretty much same program as the pork butt. I try to start with a relatively uniform piece of meat. A huge "point" end and thin "flat" will end up with a dry flat. I trim the thick layers of fat to around 1/2", season heavy with a dedicated brisket rub, let sit out to slightly warm up. I score the fat to get seasoning in and heat through, then cook scored fat side down. (Treetop Dave RIP, said he liked fat side up more) I shoot for that 200-205deg finish, foil wrap around 150-160ish, then pull and let sit for as long as you want, 1-8hrs wrapped in a towel, in the oven, a cooler, etc. Left alone and untouched makes it better. With that said, we are weak and dive in mercifully right away a lot of times. Lol. Still pretty good. Just keep changing things up till you find what you like.

Well, that leaves me out! I'm a novice. LOL I did learn something a week ago. I had brats on the Z-Grill on "smoke" and couldn't get home soon enough. The grill ran out of pellets and when I got home, saw that it was out of pellets and added more. (smoker was down to a box temp of 150Β°F) It wouldn't fire back up and I was getting an LEr error code. I ran it through the shut down cycle, and tried to fire it back up, still no go. I pulled the brats, ran them up to temp in the oven and put it away intending to look at it the next day. Well, the next day ended up being a week later. The owners manual said that the LEr code was a low temp code and that I needed to check the "hot rods" and that I needed to contact customer support if both the Draft Inducer Fan and the Auger Driver Motor were operating. It was after hours so I packed it away for another day. I decided to give it another try the next day and it seems to be operating the way it should..... I'll keep an eye on it and not put something in it that would need to be tossed out if it doesn't cook it all the way. Maybe it just needed to cool all the way down before being started up again? I have no idea. Yes, they have a set procedure if you run out of pellets. I believe it's on the yellow laminated sheet that comes with it. Make sure to disassemble and vacuum out the ashes regularly. I keep letting mine go too far, and it takes longer to light, cook, and smokes heavily. It's a wonder it works at all when the firepot is almost packed solid. ππLol.

Cancer surgery coming 10/12. I've basically stopped hunting. Maybe after a full recovery I'll jump back in. Getting old, too. 70yrs. Started hunting at 12 years old. I've done my share. Time will tell if I do any more. My biggest foul-up was not taking advantage of the lifetime hunting licenses when they came out. But I'll be OK. Good luck friend. Stay positive and stop in here to join in the hunt if nothing else. We all look forward to any contributions of stories and experiences you feel like sharing. Stay strong. Jay

They should use this common sense approach on everything and clean up some of the mess they've created.

I have read some guys using a standard duplex reticle setup as such... 30yd aiming point is center of x-hairs, 20yd aiming point is the transition from thick to thin post above the x-hair, and 40yd aiming point at the transition below. Follow that? You bow may be faster than allowing that, so aiming point yardage may be different. You can also adjust the magnification to adjust it, you just gotta leave it alone when you figure out what works.

Just bringing this thread to the top since state park draw results will be coming soon. Always a special time for sure. Seems like guys either love them or hate them. I've always enjoyed the time out there. Something/somewhere different. You just never know what can happen. What day are they supposed announce? Seems like they are running about a week these days. Used to be 2 weeks or more. Somebody will post when they are up.

Heard some walking and cracking outside. Hoping for a willing critter to show.
I'd be happy with a yote or even a groundhog.
We have put down the 243 this year due to some weak blood trails. I put him behind a 7mm-08, and he loves it. I've killed several with it, and handload for another guy. It's a heck of a caliber. Light recoil, flat shooting, yet a ton of knockdown. Let's test her out today!

Ready for action, way too warm, and dead calm. The Thermacell doesnt seem to evacuate the skeeters that were already waiting for us in the shack.
Broke a sweat on the walk out wearing a hooded sweatshirt. I had a long sleeve tee laid out but forgot it.
This afternoons hunt already brought back memories. I got a swig of diet Dew, and a bite of a Snickers and a pizza puff. Lol. Let's rock!
