Curious what you think about the fish when you try it. I tried it once and made up my mind that most fish is meant to be fried. Now fresh rainbow trout is getting wrapped in foil with butter and lemon and going over a campfire, but I doubt I try the air fryer again with the fish we normally catch here. Tried bluegill fillets in ours a few years ago. Coated them with cornmeal. When the fish was done, it still tasted like uncooked cornmeal. I relegated ours to reheating fried stuff. Heard lots of folks talking about cooking steaks in an air fryer, but I'll stick with my grill. I seen/heard a lot about steaks in one too. I'll try one soon and advise what I think of it. Maybe searing in a skillet would help? Idk. I did a burger from raw. I thought it was pretty good. Even if just used as a reheating method, I think it's pretty handy and quick and has added a new kick for my fairly dull life. π

Like with anything, there is always the best way, and then there is the "let's cook it and eat I'm hungry way". Lol. So, good to have alternatives in everything, including cooking methods.

I'll definitely pass on any results, good or bad. Made some fresh walleye on the air fryer. Just used blackened seasoning and pinch of garlic salt. I use the parchment paper liner, so put 2 pats of butter in one batch, and dry in the other. We liked the butter more, but dry was good. Forms a slightly stiff outer shell on the fillets, "very slight". All in all, we really liked it, and will do more like this in the future.

Not real excited about our temps. Showing Sat high 46, overnight low 34, Sun 55. I swapped out clothes for warmer duds so we can hang in there a little more comfortably, hopefully. Will be fine as long as no wind.

Are you cooking it in foil pan or just catching the drippings ? In the pan. I have also found if you have a top rack, to add bacon and let drip onto meat. The flavor "seems" better than laying directly on meat to us. A less salty taste we have noted. Certainly no pro. Just like to keep trying until we find what really sets it off. I give away food all the time, and have gotten a lot of comments how I should be cooking instead of wrenching. I wonder if my cooking is that good, or I'm a bad mechanic. Lol

We do it all the time. Low and slow till you hit 203-205deg. Let rest a little, then keep fingers clear! π Seems kind of puny. There was only one that was bigger than the rest and it's 2 and a quarter #. Should I wrap in parchment pretty quick to keep if from getting dry? The others were just barely over a #! Guess they were cutting chuck steaks instead of roasts! I do not wrap, it just creates a tougher bark on the outside. Good either way. I dont use parchment, tin foil if I do, but that's very rare. To try something unique, try putting it in a foil pan or any pan or dish, and let it sit in the juices and rendered fat. Cover to rest at end. Then drain off juice. The flavors are incredible!

Calling brisket aficionados! I've heard you can take a chuck roast and smoke it like a brisket. Anyone tried this already? Pointers? Gonna pick up a couple on sale and give it a shot. We do it all the time. Low and slow till you hit 203-205deg. Let rest a little, then keep fingers clear! π

I would appreciate you all's prayers on this. I dont have a good feeling on this as I've had a sore throat for a little over three weeks and my voice has become somewhat hoarse. My GP put me on a steroid and a couple different antibiotics back three weeks ago thinking it was all sinus drainage. Very little, if any, improvement. Hopefully it is something as simple as allergy.. Thanks.... . You know as well as anybody not to get excited over the unknown. We have had colds and illnesses that have hung on for weeks and months lately in our close group. So much crap out in the world floating around, everybodygets a turn. Good luck, and prayers be with you for a quick wrap up of this. Jay

Since this thread will get some looks coming up, here is a current picture of the weekend hunter and the caller. This turkey Luke has now surpassed the old timer in size, at 13yo still. Glad I hung on to extra camo clothes I was done with, as he can slide right into them now. With this kids appetite, we are gonna have to be filling all of our tags now! Lol

We will be on private ground Sat am, a different property Sat pm, and then the public draw hunt Sun till 1pm.
Sun pm will be iffy, depending on how wore out we are, and IF Luke hasnt scored already! π€

Made wings in the air fryer tonight. Super tasty. The speed and convenience is remarkable. We were way overdue for one of these.
I got a brisket going on Big Z tonight. Looking forward to weekday leftovers reheated in the air fryer now! π

Wow Woody you should be ashamed of yourself! I never signed up for FB, mainly I felt there would be too much drama. This is ridiculous though, I'd imagine you got put on some kind of watch list an they spot check you every now and then. FWIW if the rest of the world knew how great HI was they'd migrate here and leave FB in the dust. I was on last summer for awhile. First, last, and only time for me. It was good for awhile, but then the drama hit and snowballed so quickly, I pulled the plug and deleted my acct. Back to reality again. π«

In my opinion, that air fryer is better than a microwave for heating things up, especially fish, but canβt do better than fresh fish from hot oil. Itβs pretty good with frozen French fries too. Very little to no carbs for ME. Wife and kid can eat anything, so fries, breaded or battered stuff works for them.

Made some frozen raw shrimp in the air fryer. Only took about 8-9min, and had a great texture. Coated with salt and blackened seasoning, then swirled around in butter when done. Man oh man, fabulous!
Ready to try some fish fillets soon.

This time next week, I will be on the 40 pushing East around the 20 hour mark of driving, should get into the cabin before dark Thursday. Got some plans in my head and been watching the weather, saying rain on T/F/Saturday so far. Hopefully that changes. Wanted to get the mowing done Friday and spray. Not looking that way. Want to get two plots in while there, get some more brush cut in the area we hunt. At least want to get an elevated platform built while there, then next time in, get a box built on top. Might get a little further along on that one, depending how much scrap wood we have around. Move two tree stands as well. Try to thin out another little area toward the back of the property. Having a tractor would sure make things nice. Plan on that one next year maybe. Gonna rent a little walk behind 26'' brush cutter and tiller for this trip. Should make for a little help anyway. Will post some pics along the way and as things progress. Hoping the weather lets us get a few things done...SF Woody Good luck and enjoy the time. To send positive vibes your way... NEVER count on the weather forecast in Indiana. π
