4.5 lbs of bacon on the blackstone and then burgers over a wood fire. That Wright brand thick cut is some good bacon IMO I hardly think you needed to put in the IMO. If anybody argues that bacon isnt good, they can jump in the river. Lol. Yeah good stuff!😇

What's that, hit another deer? Yep LOL. I would like to see how a deer guard is made and thickness of material. How it mounts too. I think some are awful thin material. They would not much good if it folded into the grill. I would say most anything made today is intended to absorb the hit and cause LESS damage to the vehicle. Stuff built yesteryear would be more ideal, but not flashy or practical on todays tin and plastic, unless custom built.

You guys still hung in there......and teaching Luke the ins and outs is IMO your greatest gift! He is a lucky young man. I agree those cameras can be both a benefit and deterrent, like you said its hard to get fired up on an area when the cameras aren't showing anything. Thanks. Just doing my duty. It wont be long and he will be the one helping pull me thru the woods and water. 😉

Well, I guess the skunk was a good omen yesterday afterall. I Had a tom strutting around 2 hens on the edge of the beanfield and the mowed hayfield i was set up in. I was able to get out of my blind and bellycrawl to the edge where he was strutting. 19.751lbs with a 10.5 inch beard. Id rather be lucky than good. Most awesome! Congrats.

We skipped out. Hated to do it, but Luke has allergies the last few days, and my back has been less than happy with all the action I have been throwing at it lately. The season started off action packed, but faded quickly.
We need to work on our patience and stamina on the hunt. The cams have not been showing much, so it's hard to stay motivated. Holidays, birthdays, nice weather, and a laundry list of things to do all contribute to our demise sometimes. Lol. Better luck next time.

From 5:15 to just a few min ago was a lot of gobbling going on from multiple directions. Now.....nothing. nothing close but not far away either. Good luck to ya. They went silent for us now. Hoping they come looking.

Got 2 gobblers sounding off now. One a couple hundred yards away. Fingers crossed for a miracle!

Last harrah. Glad to say Luke wanted to finish out. He is hunting by himself in a blind, and I'm in our permanent blind. Actually hearing a gobble not all that far away. Come on boys!

Glad I wasn't planning on staying long. Didnt realize how dang cold it was, 46deg. Skeeters sure dont care, out in full force. Thermacell is keeping up luckily. More water around than last few years at both spots.

Just got in. Hasnt been any gobbling yet this season here, so not worried of a close roost. Giving it an hour if nothing heard, then off to the chore list until the last chance tomorrow.

You are way overdue for a brush guard of some sorts! Nice truck! We looked at another truck that had one on it. My wife didn't like it. Now she thinks we need one. There definately are gawdy ones. But, something in chrome and proper fit might look pretty decent, and offer peace of mind, as well as be effective.

As said, I'm gonna sit for an hour or two at each blind, so still a chance...

I killed my best bird on the last morning many years ago. Although my life wasn't so busy back then!

My steam is running out quickly in pursuit of turkeys. Super busy at work, stretched thin and wore down, a sore back yet again, Mothers Day, and planning for an upcoming vacation trip to WV, has lowered my enthusiasm. I do have to go get 2 blinds, so will probably sit for an hour or two in each before tear down. I think the "rut" in our area peaked very early. Was hot for about a week from youth till opening Thurs. Preseason and again now, not seeing any birds in the area where we normally would.

In the blind at the new spot and haven't heard or seen anything. Been here for almost an hour. I hear small things moving around where I can't see though. Cool and quiet. Good luck!

With trout, I just lay fillets on foil, then sprinkle with whatever rub I use on everything else, then cook till 140deg.
I cant speak for any other fish.
