Holding off taking a buck for a couple of years might keep a lot of alleged deer hunters out of the woods the first year, but that's about all. The "I'll show 'em" attitude would most likely disappear and they would be back in short order. I'm old enough to remember when only bucks were legal, and killing a doe put you in the deep doo-doo category. Probably 30 years ago, when the Deer Classic was at the county fairgrounds, I suggested to the DNR that an antler point restriction should be put in place to build up an older age group. Never do that one again! Colorado put that idea several years ago, and it took about four years for the whining to quit. Now the rule changed a lot of frowns into smiles. Different states? Yes, but same mindset would eventually prevail. Personally, I'm just grateful that I live in a country where we have the opportunities that we do. The want, want, want attitude is something that is foreign to me, and I will not allow myself to get caught up in it. No matter who is our state deer biologist, a portion of the deer hunting population will never agree with his [or her] assessment, but none will do what it takes to become eligible to take over that position in order to implement their way of thinking.

Antler worshiping rears it's ugly head again. Seems the quest for the claim to fame still simmers in a few to elevate their status quo.

Depends on which season one wants to hunt, but rifle tags are OTC.

And the time change twice a year was supposed to bring prosperity to Indiana, and I'm still waiting on that one.

"I've been checked by a few, and by far the experiences that I've had were all good. The officers were professional, curtious, etc. One in Illinois was hell bent to write a ticket for something, anything. We were pheasant hunting, and just had gotten out of the field, guns in the cases, etc. He asked to see the guns to make sure they weren't loaded. His eyes really lit up when I opened my O/U and he saw two Win AA pieces of brass in the chambers. His expression changed in a heartbeat when I pulled the brass out of the shotgun and there were wooly mops glued into the hull base (no plastic on them). I got a ticket because I didn't have my case zipped all the way. The zipper was zipped the whole length of the case, plus half way over the butt of the gun. "It wasn't completely closed, so that's an infraction."
A ticket for not zipping your case 100% of the way? Did he check your fly also?

I hunted there anytime I wanted for many years. There are Point Restrictions for the VIP Hunt, not sure about the civilian state drawn hunts. I don't hunt the state draw hunts, I hunt with the Military on the VIP Hunt which is before the state draw hunts. On another Indiana Forum, there is a guy who is in the military at Camp Atterbury. He goes by the name "Alphatango" on that IN Forum. He Bow hunts there anytime he wants. He said and posted on that forum that he spoke with range control and they said hundreds of Dead Deer have been found. The Thread was called " Deer Population" this is where this man who is in the military at Camp Atterbury talked about the hundreds of dead deer that have been found. And just how do you rate that?
