2022- So far, so good. We shall press onward!! Not off to a good start here. My daughter was supposed to fly back to her base on Monday morning. She's had 2 cancelled fights so far. Hopefully she gets on her flight this afternoon...otherwise I will be doing a Cannon Ball Run style roadtrip to Arizona tonight. And I hurt my foot with about 2 minutes left in my indoor soccer game last night. I'm gimping around pretty good this morning. ...but it could always be worse. Hopefully, the rest of your year will be great!

I didn't see .308 mentioned, but I like mine a lot. I don't see much difference in felt recoil between it and my .243. And, there are reduced recoil rounds by Hornady and perhaps other ammo manufacturers.

Most all muzzleloader that I have owned over the years needed a fouling shot, sometimes a couple.
I never clean mine after my last range session prior to hunting.
Hope that you nail a big 'un with it!

What will y'all be using on public ground this season?
I have a H&R handi rifle in 35 rem. Trim cases to 1.79", and it shoots 1 1/2 - 2" at 100 yards with trimmed Leverevolution ammo.

Some blank cartridges contain a cardboard wad which can be lethal at close range. Tragic.

I use bore butter in my patched round ball guns. Use it on my patches and to coat the bore after cleaning.I still have a tube that I bought in the late 1980s.
As others have said; it is not needed with sabots.

Love me some tenderloin samiches!
Here in New Castle the Park restaurant has a petty decent one. They also serve up a mountainous pile of good onion rings.
Last couple of years, we've been buying pork loins and pounding out our own. At the risk of sounding less than humble, they are pretty tasty!!

I, also, have used a harness loop for years. I get it up around my chest and lean in, pretty much using whole body to move the deer along. One BIG thing that I've learned: do not be in a hurry- rest often (from a 73 year old)I really need to find a younger, very strong hunting partner.

I make bacon from pork loin, and it's the smoking, as tine-n-spur said, that adds that bacon flavor.

I cut the base off of a piece of .243 brass and insert it neck first into the barrel of my Rossi 44 mag. It keeps the cleaning rod pretty well centered.
I have removed the lever and bolt, but typically clean from the muzzle.
