Ask Googles??? Who's that??? I did look it up on Google and went to a couple sites, about 3 weeks is what 1 said. It didn't say on the others. I guess it depends on how many workers there are and how big the nest is I'd assume.

Did it have wheels on it? Maybe they moved it from the local Hornet Trailer Park? They might have been evicted from their last place. They have been known to be party insects that get behind in their lot rental. Or it could be one of those prefab hornet nests from the factory. I'm about to give them an eviction notice they'll never forget....or remember for that matter.....no relocation either!!!!!!

The remaining hornets are starting to build the nest again, it's time to get mean and nasty with 'em.

That's the correct way. Usually you can spray and spray and spray some more. Until you actually get rid of the nest they usually just reproduce more in no time. I still would guess by the size it's been there all summer and just not noticed. Usually they are not super aggressive till you disturb their nest. But I don't see how I could've mowed under it without my head hitting it or have noticed it. I've walked right past it several times a day and mowed right under it all summer. It's only 10 yards from the back door and only about 5 feet off the ground, I'm 5'7". I've even looked up in the tree all summer because a mourning dove had her nest right on the left side of the limb the hornets nest was fastened too. She was there until sometime in late June or early July. I'd about guarantee it hasn't been there long. There's still several on the limb going up from where it was, they look like they may be building another nest. I'll give it a couple of days and spray any remaining ones.

The problem is solved. I thought of a guy that lives North of here that's had bee hives for decades and he came over and sprayed it and cut it down and took it home. He said he had 7 others hanging in his barn. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Pay a pro with a bee suit. They could kill you. I've been chased by yellowjackets and stung it is no bueno I can't afford it or I would.

One of my guys got into some the other day while trimming some bushes. He thought a kid was shooting him with a bb gun at first. If legal and safe, I'd blast it with a 12g before leaving for the day. May not be 100% effective, but fun and a good story to tell. It's too close to the gas tank for that.

I just got rid of one of those myself. And I learned a few things too. One is don’t wear a light at night cause it attracts them and they will come after you even at night. Also if they get a good look at you, they have a photographic memory of who was attacking them so you better be sure to get them all. Those are bald faced hornets that you’re dealing with, real mean buggers! I used carburetor cleaner and a propane torch, and you got a move fast before they can get out. Good luck! I've read they can't see red lights so I'll try that.

I probably forgot to mention that I would have my bee suit on before I walked up there. Most times those kind are not super aggressive. I just did a removal last weekend where they were in the inside wall of house. They had ate a basketball size hole in the drywall and were coming inside the house. I would guess that nest has been there all summer? I don't think it's been there long. If it's been there I've been super lucky and blind as a bat because I mow right under it every week and it's low enough I don't see how my head has not hit it when I mow under it or why I haven't seen it when I walk past it looking for duck eggs and checking the grapes.

Don't be a sissy. Just walk up there and put it in a bag and throw it away......that's what I would do... It's fastened all the way around a 2" limb and the limb's about 8 feet long, it'd have to be cut off with a chainsaw and I don't want to cut it off. It's also within a few feet of the 500 gallon propane tank.

I plan on trying to spray the entrance with jet spray hornet killer at night but should make sure I've still got a red lensed flashlight. I've thought about spraying it down with carburetor cleaner and light it while I was spraying to make a flame thrower but don't want to burn down the tree. I've never tried killing 1 of these so I'm rather nervous about it.

Warning, IT'S STILL ALIVE!!!! Beats me what to do about it until Winter and I'll need to mow before that.

Im just trying to get him in shape for competition season. I do have a pup in training right now and if it ever decides to start split treeing I will knock some out to him. We have all red fox squirrels where I hunt at. They like to sit tight. I have a cousin that breeds and sells feist squirrel dogs, I thought about buying 1 off of him. I forget if it's $300 or $500 a pup but being on Disability I couldn't afford it and don't have a place I could use it in the late season anyway so I never did. Dad bought 1 from him back in the 90s and it was a great squirrel hunter. Another 1 he bought from him only liked to hunt raccoons.

I love my 22 Marlin, a real tack driver. Same here. Plain Jane Marlin bolt, wood stock, mag fed. Been my go to gun for years and years. Just fits and feels good. I love my Marlin 22mag and Sav 17hmr as well, but with ammo costs and availability, I save them for late season longer shots. That's the same thing I have, a plain and simple bolt action.

I love my 22 Marlin, a real tack driver. I have a semi auto Marlin 22. It's a great little gun. I had 1 of those for several years but never quite got the accuracy I had with a bolt action so I switch back.

My dog made 4 trees yesterday evening. I Was unable to find any in the trees but I also didn't take a gun. Had a pretty good hunt. Back when we hunted with dogs we only used them after all the leaves were down. Even then they can be real hard to see sometimes, they blend in with the tree bark real well.

I got 1 of those pesky piney squirrels that's been raiding my mulberry tree, too bad that doesn't count . I still have 1 or 2 that I know of to get rid of. After 60 years of being around this place this is the first time I've seen them piney squirrels at the house. There's been an occasional fox squirrel come by but never them.

That's right! I'll toss the 17 Mach II in the truck tomorrow. I have a 22 marlin, a 17 hmr and a 17 bmag savage but haven't got a Mach 2. Heard great things though. Probably hard to come by one these days ? I love my 22 Marlin, a real tack driver.
