I would not touch it with a ten foot pole… She scooped it up with her shovel then dumped it in a wheel barrel, I didn't pay attention to what she did with it after that but by the sound I think she tossed it into their dumpster.

I agree, I've never seen them this close to the house before until this year.

A neighbor called this morning and said there was a coon in her back yard that was just walking in circles and wouldn't leave. She'd thrown rocks and bricks at it and it just kept walking in circles. I brought the .22 rifle and the first shot I don't think connected good enough,I hit it but not vitally I don't think. It still wasn't trying to leave though. I shot it 3 or 4 times to make sure it was down, the last shot was between his eyes. I've never seen one act like that,I'm thinking it might have been rabid but not sure. Either that or it was mentally off or sick.

I believe this thread needs flagged or something to keep it towards the top. Somebody just posted in the "sign up" thread instead.

If need be you can let somebody else have my spot. Ends up the guy that owns the field behind my house gave the rights to somebody else to have control over who hunts and who don't so for safety reasons I told him because of my health I probably wouldn't feel like hunting anyway so I can still rabbit hunt the fence row but he'd rather me not hunt anything else which is fine with me. So my deer and coyote hunting days are gone unless by some miracle I find another place to hunt which is very unlikely. Sorry to hear this. Fingers crossed that something miraculous falls in your lap. I've lost several very good properties over the years. Something always has come up to fill in the blanks. Keep telling friends, family, and neighbors you are wanting to hunt. Good luck! I could probably hunt my own property but I know they'd run over onto his property and I don't know of any place I could set up where it would be safe to shoot and hide without being right along the road. I only have 3 acres and it's all yard with grown up fence rows on 2 sides which are both on property lines. Like I told him, with my health I'm really not worried about it. I doubt I could process one if I got one anyway. I didn't even get out last season. I can still hunt rabbits and squirrel as long as they don't interfere with deer season. Thanks for the good thoughts though. Which come to think of it, I could set up under the walnut tree or apple tree that's along the road, I'd be facing and shooting away from it. But I'd still have to drop them in their tracks or they'd get into his field. It's pretty grown up along the road on that part of my property also.

I dont want to leave anyone out that wants in so for now we have 6 hunters on team 13. If we get some more players I'll split that team up.

Sign me up please, on a team that don't expect much, since with my health issues going on I probably won't make it out. Better safe than sorry though I guess.

I did manage to get out this morning but it's probably the only time I'll get to go this season. Saw a small fast 1, probably a piney squirrel, running through the trees but I didn't get a shot. A few minutes later one was coming down a trunk but I didn't have a good rest a missed it. An hour or so later one started barking at me and after a few minutes of looking I saw him but again not a good rest and missed him. He kept barking and moved a little so I tried again and this went on for a few more shots. I know it wasn't my sights because I just checked it yesterday and I made a ragged hole with 3 shots in the bullseye. I tried finding a spot where I had a better rest but lost where he was so I moved back where I was and he quit barking and moved up the tree. I worked myself around it and looked up and saw him on a higher limb eating a nut so I aimed for his nose and shot and down he came dead. Mark 1 stubborn noisy squirrel up for team 1 LCB.

What is that, a Mars Squirrel? Weird looking critter . We have pockets of black squirrels up here in the noRt region. We have lots of them in town too but I've only ever seen 1 gray out here in the country, let alone the black ones. I've been hunting them since 1975 and always just see fox squirrels other than the 1 I shot a couple of years ago. In town there's as many or more grays and black ones as there are fox squirrels.

I was out by the pond after I let the ducks out and low and behold a fox squirrel came over by the pond with a nut in its mouth looking for a place to bury it.....but no gun on me, the lucky little critter. I went over by it and it hopped on a tree and peaked around at me from the back side, it was only 5 feet from me. Then it ran over by the fence row and stopped again....man I wish I had my gun with me.

A live hornet cam! It will go virus in a day. I used some stuff that foamed. They carry it into the nest. Worked on those yellow jackets that love sweet stuff. That's an idea but I've never owned a cam or can afford one.

Well then let's do a Fer real scientific study. See how long that new nest takes to grow. Get us a pic everyday. Too late, they're all dead. I went out last night and used a whole can of hornet killer on them

The propane is inside the tank, right? What's to worry about? If it was leaking out then you wouldn't have that 500 gallons for long. I have mowed under them and even hit the branch that the nest was on with the ROPS and still didn't get stung, my head was within about 5 feet of the nest. I didn't want to take a chance on a 3rd pass past the nest after I bumped the branch. They are pretty mild mannered until they are disturbed then you better have your track shoes on!! As low as this nest was I don't see how I could have mowed under it without my head hitting it,not a few feet under it but hitting it. As for the tank,if it gets hot enough I'm sure it would explode and those flame throwers put out a bunch of heat. You may not understand or agree, that's your choice. When it comes to hornets nests I'm not taking any chances. I'm going to have to see if I can take a picture that shows where the limb was, it was only maybe a foot above the gas tank and that's only chest high. The hive was eyesight high when I was standing close to it. I also mow both sides of it before I mow between it and the tank,I'm sure I would've seen it. I just measured it to the bottom of the limb and it's only 4-1/2 feet from the ground, I'd say the bottom of the nest was probably 4 feet off the ground, it would've hit me in the face when I mowed through there. I also took a picture of how much of the new nest they have done in just the last 24 hours, and that's with missing the ones that were in the nest when Jim sprayed it and cut it down. They could've easily built it in the last week to week and a half since I mowed, in my opinion.

Ir sounds like a good idea but a little risky for me since it's within a few feet of my 500 gallon propane tank.

Do you think it could have went 3 weeks unnoticed? No,I just mowed there last week. I doubt it could go a week without me noticing it,with where it was,how low it was and as close to it as I get on a daily basis.
