Four years ago, my company was sold, couple months later, sold again, and then sold again to current company, who we really like. I started at 3pm today, and got an email we were to watch a zoom meeting at 3:30. The president/son of owner, decided the time was right, and they sold the company. 150+ year company, owned by a couple different families. So, we come in tomorrow with a new name. He advised our jobs, seniority, and pay were to remain same, retirement even better, and insurance was solid. There are a few of us involved with new financial obligations upcoming, so this will be some trying times. I can probably go about anywhere and get a job in my field, but hate the thought of changing up. Fingers crossed for us please!

Lets hope for a good result. You are right though, your skills are very valuable. If things go south I would bet you'll land on your feet pretty easily.

Sometimes the worse thing we think could happen ends up being a blessing after the dust settles.
Keep your head up and keep marching.

Here’s hoping for the best. If not, as others and yourself have said, you won’t have any issues getting employment, but it does stink to start over.

Pay, people, location, work load, etc....we all have our reasons. I would use the change as an opportunity to negotiate a better situation for yourself. If you want modified work schedule or more time off or more pay....go for it. My longest period of employment has been 9 yrs. Each change brought better opportunities for what I needed then. Pay used to rule my world, now is time away from the office. I work 4 10 hr shifts as my base. 3 day weekends are phenomenal but maybe not achievable everywhere.

I’ve been where I’m at for 15 years now, which is my longest with one employer. It’s the federal government, so to leave would take one heckuva pay raise and better schedule to match what I get now with retirement, insurance, pay, working from home, and schedule. There is always opportunity elsewhere though for individuals. I’d say can’t hurt to ask for things to better your life when starting with a new company.

Fingers crossed that the new owners are better than the last ones (and the last ones were great with the exception of HR letting slackers get away with murder).

After the dust settles a little, I'll divulge the new owner. A name we ALL know. I've got good and bad Intel from people that have worked for them. Likely, it's an individual basis. I'm not worried about me personally as far as my performance. I'm a good worker, knowledgable, dependable, punctual, loyal as a dog, etc. Worried about losing 21 years, worried about them buying us out to take out their competition and closing us down. Yes, they are that big, and my companies have been fighting them for business for years. I'm cozy comfortable where I am, that's what worries me.

Words to live by....WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES ANOTHER DOOR OPENS. You can bet that the new owners know who you are and how hard you work.

Don't forget Jay, you're a big part of that companies value. I hope and pray that they see that. Best wishes with the new brand.

From what I’ve seen Two things could happen
1 If the company that bought you guys wants to stay a company they will keep every employee they can and will keep things the way it is or it very well could improve to try and keep employees from leaving it happens sometimes but normally they won’t come in and change much
2 They bought out competition could care less may offer you a job working for them lot of times that doesn’t go your way Most generally they have to honor any retirement and give a time for health insurance coverage
I would not worry Jay you have a skill and can probably get the same job same money same everything by weeks end if needed sucks yes

I guess the question I would be asking is, why do the owners keep selling?

I guess the question I would be asking is, why do the owners keep selling? The first sale was the owner retiring after 50+ years. The 2 subsequent sales were hand offs in a couple months, apparently not knowing what they wanted, and started dismantling the original company. Then our current company acquired us, and have been just awesome. Unfortunately, it was at the end of the tenure, when age was creeping up and the goal of retirement was realized. We have been very profitable as a single shop, but always part of bigger companies.

Number 2 is the angle we are afraid of. When you can acquire 18 truck shops, 500 employees, and 2,700 trucks and trailers with a signature, you rule the industry and can do as you please. Really hoping it works out for us. Almost half my life working with same group of guys in same building. Life was on cruise control. I guess we need a little shake up to appreciate what we got. Lol

Lol They may just keep things the same even if it’s stays a competitive shop some customers don’t want to change Couple big guys from Indy have been buying up smaller HVAC plumbing electrical shops here in Fort Wayne to gain market share nothing changed but money even a few bigger ones sold Three of the bigger HAVC companies sold out last year I personally don’t care for the marketing strategy and high pressure selling they use now if you ask me it’s borderline

I was approached 3-4 years ago about selling the business. I said no thanks. It was by a very large company that bought a lot of smaller (and bigger) pond related companies.
Maybe Deadeer can get free tickets to some sporting events now? LOL
