Here we go. Seen several posts and couple petitions started to change season lengths, eliminate rifles, change doe quota's, wanting antler restrictions etc. In my 44 years hunting Indiana I'm enjoying the best hunting of my life. I'm good with IDNR running the show myself.

99.9% of what they petition never happens anyways. I wouldn’t worry.

Was just told by a guy that traditional and recurve archery needs eliminatanated because they injure to many deer... I have no words.

Moron. I guarantee that kind of stuff balances out-- you have a certain element that no matter what weapon they carry with take too long a shot, the wrong shot, whatever. Can't broadbrush.

Let’s make it four years… Last time there was a proposal to shorten and move the firearm season out of the rut it was thumbed down by 80+% of the Indiana deer hunters that gave input. Shorten the firearm season and deer hunters will get less picky. They will be shooting bucks they normally wouldn’t shoot when they were waiting on Mr Big. Move the firearm season out of the rut and deer drives will become the preferred method of deer hunting. IOW - if the big bucks won’t move the deer hunters will conduct drives to get them up.

From my studying to get rifles legal on public lands, I learned that more hunters are shot in deer drives than with HPRs

Next year the season will start a week later - it will be the same as Wisconsin opener.
I was informed that next year the opener is on the 12th, which is still a week prior to Wi. That's good!

I’m an arm chair biologist, all for changing the current regulations. Illinois and Ohio have perfect seasons based on my observation. With all the technical advantages hunters have on deer, it’s a joke we hunt with guns during peak rut. Of course, many of you can’t wait for a six shooter crossbows, but maybe I’m wrong. If the innovation in fishing is any moral compass, most outdoorsmen can’t control themselves… do it for the fame, not the food. Indiana has less than 5% public land, so I don’t trust any government “experts”, especially when they sold out on wetlands and natural prairie grass over the years. But that’s just me… open to all rebuttals… discussion is good.

End day hunters are becoming fewer and fewer each year. Going too 2 three day weekends will lose more IMO. And I rarely hunt with a gun for record.

I think you have to look at the trends… case in point, I went to Cabelas yesterday and I was shocked at the number of cross guns to vertical bows… that clearly shows the demand, and how much difference is there between that and a 870 Remington slug gun (to the uneducated hunter). Folks are going to hunt when they have a target rich environment, plain and simple… when it’s hard is when they give up. What is the balance.
