Just like most any public land hunting areas where there are a high number of people, the further you get off the beaten path, the less people you see. I bet you're right, some of the state parks though (like Spring Mill) are pretty small and highly developed. If I do try another park hunt, I'll probably put in for one with more back country like Versailles or Brown County.

Myself and usual group of buddies have had great success in our local hunts over the years. I have personally applied and hunted since 1996, successful in most hunts. I look at it as new hunting ground, a new challenge, and great friendship with buddies thru sharing of stories and helping with recoveries.

I am sincerely glad to hear that several of you have had success at Park hunts because they are important to sustainability. My thinking is that I am just plain spoiled. I can take a deer on my place, drive out with my tractor, load it in the front loader, bring it to the barn, chain it to the front loader and field dress it and then put in the back of my truck for the trip to the processor. That has ruined me for off the beaten path Park hunts. That is my story and I am sticking with it. LOL! Good luck to all that participate and thank you.

Had some good hunts some bad the bad ones were because of the people that were there hunting some real butt heads had people see me and set up a tree stand or blind right by me like 50 foot away had one deer stolen had another guy show up about 9 am and tell me I was in his spot he had no tree stand up or blind and I was in my summit this guys was nuts I moved dang near 1/2 mile because he did scare me and than he tracked me down again and started yelling at me about how I stole another one of his spots. I did go to the office and told them about it not sure what ever happen but he was nuts and should not have a loaded gun in his hands.
I may go again but not sure if I would do that park again

Ditto, but the park hunts allow me to fill the freezer and not hit the herd that hard where I hunt.

I just take one a year from my place and that lasts the two of us for a year and then some.

I agree if it was just me, but I will give one to my Aunt, one to my Cousin (now it's just his wife and their 2 kids) and I usually donate one to HFTH.

Generosity is an understatement. I see your mission.

Not sure of the deadline, but you can apply solo. Actually you can only apply solo. Didn't somebody say the State Park hunts we're back to the old "buddy system"?

You can apply with a buddy but then your buddy can't apply. I put in for two with him.

Unless I'm mistaken. In some past park hunts your buddies could still apply.

Unless I'm mistaken. In some past park hunts your buddies could still apply. Only last year. Now it is back to the old way. Can only apply or be on an application once.
