I had some sheenanigans going on at my rental house so I hid a few trailcams. That was months ago. Look what I got in the kitchen a few days ago! No one ever called me, and I have no clue why he was there. The house was unoccupied and unlocked at the time. [a href=" "]link[/a]

Yes it's a cop call them and find out? I would guess they saw someone run in there or something or the door was open

Ha ha! I'm guessing a Deputy...but why he was there I haven't a clue unless they were looking for someone. I wish I had checked the front door cam. That's where he came in.

Well I know this is a common thing and lots of houses are linked to numbers that don't work or owners from out of state they could more likely find the criminal than the property owner most times

As it's a trail cam post I'm going to say it looks quite a bit like a mountain lion to me.

My guess is he was looking for a meth lab in an empty house. But why?

You said you had the cams up due to some "Shenanigans" at your place. Maybe he drove past and seen something suspicious or perhaps somebody called and reported seeing tomfoolery. The house, from what little I can see in the pics, doesn't look fully furnished so maybe he's looking for a suspect who he felt could have hid in there. Or maybe he's been the source of your shenanigans all along! As others suggested, I'd call and ask. If they say he was there on a call, I'd ask for a copy of the incident if you feel you need to confirm what they say.

Explain the "Shenanigans"..... that's the part that is untold and probably holds many answers!

There should be some paperwork as to why he was there...call and ask for it. Or better yet, show up and ask for it.
I wouldn't mention the photos...just ask which deputy was there on that date and at that time and why.

So I have to ask the obvious question....
Why was the house unlocked?

Not everything is a conspiracy Greghopper. The Shenannigans, as I put it, was somebody forced their way into the empty house after the last renters left. Nothing mysterious or bizarre. The house was unlocked this time because I followed my own advice. I used to think, "why lock an empty house, as anyone who wants in will get in and just damage a door or window in the process," I didn't follow my own advice and ended up with a damaged door. So I had just been leaving it unlocked. The house has just been rented and is of course locked now. Our random LEO wandered into things months later.
I didn't know having an unlocked door was an invite for anyone, even cops, to walk in a building. I'll have to call them. I'm glad it was unlocked--if they had PC for some reason they might have broke the door down and I'd be out of luck.
I have a nosy neighbor and a cousin just a few houses away.... I can't believe they both missed a cop car at that house. A bird don't poop on the porch that I don't get asked about it. Part of me wonders if they thought they saw something and called the cops, and were then embarrassed when it was nothing. I think it's either that or the cops were searching for someone and thought "heck with it, I'm gonna peek in here."

*UPDATE* It wasn't the sheriff... I talked to dispatch and they had no calls even to that town during the timeframe. Wrong shirt too...Decatur Co. wears dark brown shirts. I wondered about about the State boys...but don't they wear dark blue? I know it's b&W but he is clearly wearing a light shirt. The plot thickens.

Unlocked and open are two different things. Unlocked but closed should mean the same as locked to an uninvited guest even a cop unless he saw something suspicious. If so, it "should" have a record.
I'd have to find out why, and it should be in a record somewhere if legal.
