Could been there to serve paper to last tenant for unknown reasons.... then knocked on unlocked door and it opens at that point he went in to check welfare of anyone there! Just a theory .... I've never knocked on an unlocked door and it just opened. Most cases require a turn of the knob before opening.

I wasnt aware the door was open.....I thought it was closed but unlocked. If the door was open then yes, I agree there are plausible explanations. If not then I have a hard time coming up with any. May be he LEFT it open last time he was wandering around private property he didn't own with no warrant and no reason or permission to be there. Even if it's open, it's not an invitation to come in and none of this list of reasons, really excuses, give him any business entering the residence short of a distress call from that address. (already ruled out) He is trespassing same as any teenager and in fact those are the same lame list of excuses you could pick up at any high school.

I don't think the door was open; it was just unlocked. Only person that actually knows if it was open would be the guy on the cam being it was left unlocked! ...Unless that front door camera shows it.

Not sure which is more annoying ... the cop haters or the cop apologists.
They are people ... most are good. Some, not so much. Nothing wrong with finding out which this guy is.

Wouldn't many of the reasons posted tend to have his sidearm drawn? I mean even if it was someone he was chasing for skipping during no skipping hours, once they entered that home wouldn't they then be committing a felony burglary? Not a lawyer and not an officer of the law. To me he sure don't look like he's in hot pursuit of to concerned with a criminal jumping him.
My guess. The house was empty and he was maybe interested in buying or renting it. Checked the door and lo and behold it was unlocked and decided to check it out. Right or wrong, just my guess

Residential Entry could be the charge. Burglary if he broke into the house with the intent to commit a felony such as theft. However, if the place is an unoccupied dwelling, I'm not sure a residential entry would stick. Depends on how motivated the Prosecutor is. Hope he gives us an update and reaches out to the Deputy. Only way he'll solve it.

I would rather have the LEO in there than the alternative. In my experiences as a LEO ive seen things in these abandoned and unoccupied building's that were funny to scary. Once I got a run to check a residence that was unoccupied and found a homeless Korean guy had skinned a dog and cooking it in the bathtub on a home made spit with a wood fire. The officer can tell you why he was there, my guess is routine check. I was never gung ho enough to check homes without a call or reason but I knew other officers who did.

There is no such thing as a routine check of the inside of a house whether it's occupied or not.
