We had the arsonist on the fire department thing in NH when I lived there. I actually went to elementary and high school with the guy.

Take pic to sheriffs office in person. They will recognize him or figure out who it is. Problem solved. Yeah, the one pic should let anyone that knows him give me an ID pretty quick. Initially I was more bemused than anything, but seeing some of y'alls comments makes me think maybe I should ask for an explanation. I know if I was a cop I'd never do that without calling it in for fear of being accused of something. I think there probably is an innocent reason. Also, since posts get misinterpreted on this site, let me be clear that I thought the incident was a good mystery and made for a funny trailcam pic, and that is the main reason i posted it. I am not accusing anyone of anything. Still, it is weird. i'll check into it further.

Looking at the photo and noticing the ridge across his shoulder blades and the blousing of his shirt at the belt I would guess he is wearing a bullet proof vest which will make a person appear a lot heavier than they really are.

If that was my property I would definitely want an explanation. Maybe he had a good reason to be there. Since it's your property you should be made aware of whatever caused him to enter it without permission. Keep us updated.

It's a sheriff deputy after all. The porch cam caught his car in the driveway. I already talked to dispatch ( she was very helpful and friendly )and they had no record of his being there. Without getting long winded there are a few reasons why he might be there without a call being generated. Most of which are completely innocent reasons.

Same thought, that's why I asked for county and time frame details.

Because I genuinely dont know .... what would be a couple of those reasons?
If no call were generated then no warrant and likely no probable cause. What other reasons allow someone to walk into someones home uninvited?

What other reasons allow someone to walk into someones home uninvited? He could have driven by a few times throughout his shift and seen a door open, and stopped to make sure everything was ok. Or there could have been a crime somewhere near by and they were looking for a suspect that ran when they saw an open door or just knew the house currently sat empty. That circumstance may not require a warrant at all.

I wasnt aware the door was open.....I thought it was closed but unlocked.
If the door was open then yes, I agree there are plausible explanations. If not then I have a hard time coming up with any.

I would agree with that. I dont know if it was open or not, but certainly not unheard of for an empty house to be sitting with the door open.

Just a theory ....

I don't think the door was open; it was just unlocked.

I don't think the door was open; it was just unlocked. Only person that actually knows if it was open would be the guy on the cam being it was left unlocked!
