Since centerfire's were allowed this year I'm just curious to what has been the longest shot taken this year that you have taken or heard of. My hunting buddy too a doe at 214 yrds with his .308. I took a buck at 145 yrds with my .243 win.

Longest bow is 40 yards, and longest gun is 85 yards. Only my new oak stand allows a shot up to 150 yards. There's a good chance that I will not shot one over 150 yards.

My shot this year was the second longest I've ever taken and close to 40 yds only other one I've shot further is 70 yds. Usually always 30yds or less.

funny thing is most shots can be made with a shotgun or muzzleloader.. My 20 gauge Remington 870 has killed deer as far out as 193 yards and it doesn't start "keyholing" until almost 280 yards
My muzzleloader shooting 100 grains of Pyrodex and a 250 grain Barnes Spit fire billets is still punching clean holes at 300 yards

Somebody was just trying to prove they could hit the broadside of a barn.

My longest shot this season was < 100 yards. My longest shot on a Colorado Mule Deer was at 400 yards. The under 100 yard shot I was using a .308 and the Colorado shot was accomplished with a .30-06.

I've blown two under fifteen yards. One the lower bow limb hit stand, second one my cap on my muzzy didn't fire. Same big buck both times. The force runs strong in that one!

With bow I limit myself to 40 yards. Longest ever was 100 yards with 12qu. sabot slug. I hunted with rifle some but again rifle/slug gun I limit myself to 100 yards. Main reason being I have no problem getting deer well within the 100 yard range and I rarely hunt a area that I can shoot 100 plus yards anyways. Harvested 3 does this season, farthest being 20 yards and my buck this year was 25 yards.

glad I don't hunt up north in the flatlands If I had a fear of being shot by another hunter with a HPR, I'd feel a lot safer on flat ground. At least they would be shooting at a downward angle or horizontal at most, putting the bullet in the dirt within 500 yards. Same scenario in hilly country, and a hunter could shoot uphill and put the bullet into the sky, where it could travel miles.

Shot a doe last week at 105 yards with a hollow point 7.62*39 round. Bullet came to rest in opposite front shoulder and she dropped twenty yards from impact. Would not take this shot with my improved cylinder slug barrel equipped 870. I was shooting from half way up a steep hillside bordering the cut corn field she was feeding in.
