Only heard 1 gobbling so far today, but I moved in on him and called him to the fence about 40 yards away. He just wouldn't cross over from private.
Raining pretty good here now, so I put up the blind and decoys about 20 yards from a private field, going to try to get them over to my side. I've seen 4 cross the field so far.

Should have brought a giggin' pole. Bullfrogs are making all kinds of racket just a few feet from the blind.

Some still on the roost gobbling here. Why so dang late? Driving us crazy. I have a buddy with me as an observer per the rules. Not participating in the hunt. Lol

A guy just shot a field or two over from us. Can hear talking so he must be celebrating with his partner or phone call.

How do you know they were still on the roost? Just curious...

I got out just before rain hit. Had a couple hens close. Didn't hear any gobbling that was on my property this morning. May try Metamora tomorrow afternoon if it's not raining too bad.

How do you know they were still on the roost? Just curious... Gobbling from same locations since first thing. PRESUMED they were on the roost. Figured when they all finally went quiet, was when they came down. Right afterwards was other guys shot.

We had no takers. So we wrapped it up one hour before quitting time. Took a ride to see if the grass was greener at the other spot for tomorrow. On the way, a tom stepped into a brush line. I got dolled up and put on a sneak, never seen him. Went to the other spot, all in same zone, saw another one where we ALWAYS see one. Same sneak, got to about 75yd, and he cut into a swamp edge. I continued on and seen a couple more off in the distance, so I checked around for a promising spot for Sunday. Only thing I don't care for is if we see these birds regularly, then so does everybody else. Just like the first spot, somebody else got in on us. Chance you take on public land.

Yesterday I was at a clients property, working, but I have permission to hunt. 5 jakes and 2 gobblers not 100 yds away. No way to get closer, so I watched them walk off and continued to get done what I needed to do. 2 hrs later, they all show up on the opposite side of the pond, about 120 yds away. Same, same, no way to sneak up on them - like trying to sneak across a billiard table.
Since they are frequenting the same area, at about the same time, I'm headed out with the pop-up blind and the decoys. We'll see!!!!

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to break out a fan and sneak their way staying behind it. Good luck with the blind. Hopefully they follow the same pattern.

About a dozen guys waiting around at Kingsbury for the standby drawing. I only saw 3 unfilled spots with 20min to go, so a lot of guys going back home. At least the rain quit for now. Gonna be more mobile today and set up without a blind. On my own, so plan on sneaking a little closer to roosted birds if they are as vocal as yesterday.

Thanks!
Zero gobbling so far. Buddy in Marshall county who is my turkey mentor, and at an area that is littered with birds, said no gobbling there either. So no worry for me then that they are quiet.

Bird down. Sitting in a blind overlooking small field. Finally got one to answer my calls about 715. He snuck in silent through the woods from opposite way he gobbled. Almost like a buck circling downwind. Would have never gotten him without the blind as he was 20 yards when I saw him. Bang, flop, flop, flop. Nice long beard and sharp spurs.

Congrats squirrel.
I sat on my property for a bit this morning. Had one gobble as I was walking in and then nothing else. Still a great morning to be in the woods.

When to Dearborn co this morning in the rain. Heard one gobble shortly after a hen entered field. He came in at 25 yrds and by 650a I was done. 23.5 pounds , 1+ Spurs and 11.5 inch beard. Sometimes it just comes together right!

Way to go fellas! Thats how you do it.
Looking pretty bleak. Only one gobble today and thats it. Zero shots, and a lot of guys leaving already by the sound of the traffic. I will be joining them in an hour or so if nothing shows.
