Dad got one down this morning. 910 we heard the first gobble of the morning. Then another but it sounded as if he went the other way. Called a few times and the next gobble was close. All the sudden two jakes entered the field 15 yards to our right. Then another jake. The. The gobbler that did t quite make it to the decoy before he was flopping around. Great morning in the woods with dad.

Some still on the roost gobbling here. Why so dang late? Driving us crazy. I have a buddy with me as an observer per the rules. Not participating in the hunt. Lol My first year of hunting turkey, we saw a tom roosting in a tree on the way to our property. It rained all morning. We left at 10am and that tom was still sitting in that tree. All I can say is that on that day, that tom didn't want to get down and walk around in the rain.

Good going guys!! Totally quiet this morning, no shots heard, back at the house.
I agree about the fan. I gotta get one. I thought about that when I was looking at the birds. BUT, I only had a camo jacket, no gloves, face mask, and jeans on.
I will be back out this afternoon.

Thanks guys. A little over 20 pounds, 1 1/4" spurs, and 10 3/4" beard. I haven't tagged many, pretty happy. Took the legs too. Gotta be a good way to cook them, I just haven't had luck with a recipe yet.

Looks like rain later, and I'm a fair weather ...everything. Hey, have you ever tried cooking the turkey breast on a smoker with some rub on it?

My wife wants a smoker though, maybe this will get us to buy one. I like to grill turkey breast kabobs threaded with bacon. The legs are a cooking challenge to me to be edible.

They would be good for soup or broth. Hey bacon on anything sounds pretty good to me. I'd like to try one smoked wrapped with bacon. Weave bacon all around it!!!

I finally got out to hunt turkeys in Indiana . Been busy with Habitat fur Humanity home building, church, taking momma for medical tests and a few honey does..
I'm sitting in the blind that Woodmaster killed out of last Thursday. I've got out two avian X feeding hens and one Avian X Jake .
It poured down raining on the way up but has clearered off nice now...
Nice and quiet.. Just a faint breeze and a few birds chirping and singing..

Looks like a peaceful spot WW. Not sure when I'll get to meander back out to the turkey woods but, so far, I don't have them figured out. Best of luck!

Back at it.. The hens left the field late so they should be roosting close by.. Hopefully a long beard will join them this morning..

Went to the new place yesterday. Had two absolutely hammer on the roost. Both must have gobbled 200 times. Flew down and the fog rolled in and the completely shut up. Gave em about 20 minutes and decided to move on. Took about ten steps and they started gobbling at me walking. Set back up and had both of them on a strut pattern about 70 yards away. Each time they would work closer to me but were out of sight the whole time. All of a sudden they started putting like crazy. No way they could have seen me. Started putting at them and they ran towards me. They got about 30 yards away and I heard someone crow call to them from where they spooked from. Didn't take the shot, just didnt want to kill one that way. Just didn't understand why someone would try to stalk two turkeys on a strut pattern when he was level with them on their side. Easiest birds to kill. One eventually is going to break. They both were nice birds and put on a show for my ears at least. Love when they are so close that you can feel the gobble.

She went right through my decoys. She speeded up a little when she got to them..

That's a first for me. Donkey just fired one up. Too bad he's across the property line.
