Watching same field as yesterday. Have had two hens out there for a good hour and a half but no toms. No gobbling at all.

I couldn't hunt this morning ...too exhausted. I slept 12 hours.
I did hunt Wed morning. It was fun, and I did hear a couple shots. I drove in with my ATV to set up my stuff and then took it out to hide it. While setting up, I heard one fly down from the roost, but he went the other way, and I didn't blame him. Within the hour, I heard a shot in that direction.
I did hear one gobble in another direction, and I would gobble back. It did sound like he was on the corn field on the north side of my bottom land. I was on the south side of the bottom. He must have been happy to stay over there.
Just hearing one is better than my experience last year, so I was happy!
Too tired to go this morning, but when I woke up, the weather looked great.
I will go to Cloverdale to set up this evening. If I get out there early enough I'll try to hunt, but really want to be all set up this evening after they go to roost, and I'll walk in the morning.
Good luck fellas!
Congratulations on the harvested birds!

Where are you at that it is snowing? Northwest Nebraska. My son shot his first Merriam yesterday and missed another. Wonderful! You are giving him great experiences that he'll never forget. That thing looks bigger than him.

Hunters usually enjoy watching animal behavior; I sure do.
A couple weeks ago, another male Mallard came in my pond to join the pair that seems to come for the past few years.
I watched as the invading male did not attempt to overpower the male mate. Oh yes, a fight ensued, but it was more of the mate male being the aggressor. He actually picked the other male up by the neck and carried him away.
The invading male had one objective and it wasn't to fight. Until he gave up and was chased away, he continued to get around the male to get to the female. He didn't fight, his repeated attempts were to just get past the mate male and he did on several occasions. The female would attempt to escape and the mate male would attempt to come between them.
Turkeys seem different to me. Sure, I've seen videos of a tom trying to mount a hen decoy, but it seems that they first want to fight to establish a dominate territory.
Is this your experience?

Two toms and 4 Ben's in the field about 10. One tom came into 60 yards but kept going back to his hens...last day for us, heading north tomorrow.

Dad and I decided to slow walk through the woods to our blind tonight. Never heard a gobble till I got to the field and saw a gobbler by himself. Started calling and he turned and came right away. I belly crawled out and got the decoy out. I guess not far enough as the gobbler kept looking for the hen but couldn't see my decoy. He walked five steps from the blind on his way by. Too bad we weren't there. Maybe next time.

I went late tonight and set up all my stuff in the woods. I had to make two trips as the ATV couldn't get back there. I'll go back in the morning, and do my best to bring home a first.

Had one gobble a few times from the roost. Once on the ground he went quiet until he got a couple hundred yards out. He is gobbling again.

Not gobbling in brown county. Heard a couple shots at 7am. Nice morning anyway. I'm also in brown county and had one near me on the roost that gobbled over 200 times. It was nonstop. Did seven in a row at one point. Hen took him the opposite direction. There were birds gobbling all around me this morning. Been pretty quiet for a while now though.
