Shot two this morning, head shots on both. Saw a couple more I couldn't get shots at.
Cleaned them up nice and gave them to an 80 year old friend who is not able to get out and do this stuff anymore.

I went three times in the evening and killed one squirrel because thats the only one i saw. I killed 2 one day and 4 another but they were all morning hunts. It has cooled down some so who knows, they might start moving in the evening. h.h.

Finally on the scoreboard ;D...nothing to exciting though. I got into the woods around 5pm and saw and shot one in the first 5 minutes I was there. I heard more clawing up the trees and jumping from branch to branch, but there are too many leaves still! The one I shot is only the second I have seen this season. Definately not as many as last year!!

I'm finally on the score board as well! My friend and I both shot one each Saturday morning. We are also headed out Monday morning first thing. We see squirrel action in the morning but not seeing much in the evenings yet.

My buddy and I each got one Monday morning. Man the game was moving. Saw a whole bunch of deer, including five little bucks, turkeys, and several racoons.
A fun morning.

Well, got out for the first time this morning before my dad goes into surgery. Saw two but by the time I got worked around to get a shot...they had both bolted to their nests. One was in a white oak, and the other in a hickory. Saw a bunch of turkey hear one of my treestands....too bad Elkhart isn't one of the fall counties! Was nice to be out this morning.

Went out for the first time Sunday morning before church. Experienced several firsts.....shot the first squirrel off a new property, first time to use a new cz 22 cal. rifle, first time my daughter experienced the skinning process. I love the fact that young children do not get grossed out, rather are so interested in knowing what each part does. My three year old received her first anatomy and physiology lesson Sunday morning. Good luck to all of you and have a safe and productive hunting season.

I need some help! I've been hunting in eastern green county and the mast looks exceptional. I have also seen some hickory cutting. The problem is I have seen no squirrels here at all! I have seen them in the past years there and I'm having no success. I tried hunting in the evening could the morning hold any more promise than the evening has. Any good suggestions would be much appreciated in helping me find them. The squirrels have food, water from creek bed and many place to call home.

Last year there wasn't a good mast crop! So there weren't many nuts at all therefore not as many squirrels made it to this year. Litters were probably smaller as well. I will agree with you, there are significantly less critters this year. It makes it that much more challenging and makes you value each one you do get more.

ajm............Don't feel like the lone ranger. I hunt Greene and Owen counties a lot and so far can only conclude that squirrel numbers are VERY low compared to past years. Have killed a few but not like a normal year. In fact, on my property I finally saw a grey after 3 hunts and elected to leave him for "seed". Last year I can't tell you how many limits we shot out of the same woods. jajwrigh is exactly right about the lack of mast last year really hurting the squirrels. Good luck ! At least when deer hunting this year, if you hear the rustling of leaves, you should really pay attention.
