Who's ready? I know I sure am. Gotta get through my son's wedding, my anniversary, and my wife's birthday. Come on August 15! Time to hunt some limb chickens! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Maddog

My son has been trying to get a turkey for the last four years, with no success. I don't turkey hunt, but found a bunch of birds on a property I squirrel hunt. I cleared it with the farmer for my son to go. He came up last week from Indy, and hunted, seeing three hens, which was more birds than he had seen all season, down in southern Indiana. He came up yesterday and went for his last hunt of the season, due to his work schedule. I get a call about 8 am. He had his bird! I went out to take pics, then we headed to the check in station. The gobbler weighed 22 lbs., had 1" spurs, and a 9 3/4" beard. Not bad for your 1st turkey! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) He got it with his 20 ga. shotgun at about 30 yds. ![](http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii198/maddog1951/Spring2013002_zpsaec7b947.jpg) After cleaning the bird, we went after some bluegills. It was an awesome father/son day! Maddog

It will work on the barrel and the receiver. I didn't want it that way, just the stock and forend. I saw guns that he's done completely and they are nice, if that's what YOU want. Give him a call and discuss your wants/needs.

Probably should have done this a few months back, but I forgot. Here is a couple pics of what we did with the trophies. I don't have a pic of my son's footstool, but here is what I did with my cape buff head and what he did with the hippo tusks. ![](http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii198/maddog1951/Zimbabwe%202011/sguirrelhunting002_zps1a37eac3.jpg) ![](http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii198/maddog1951/Zimbabwe%202011/P1010204_zps05e57293.jpg) His hippo was absolutely huge, and my cow cape buff was a big ole girl. ;D Maddog

Get a copy of the county plat book that you're interested in. It lists all the owners and the properties they own, by township. They can be purchased at the county extension office of the county you are interested in.

I decided I wanted to purty up my favorite squirrel rifle, in honor of my birthday. ;D Never done this before, but found a young man in Lafayette, that would do it. I don't have anything to compare it to, but thought he did a fine job. I'll post 2-3 pics, then post his info, if you're interested. ![](http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii198/maddog1951/Picture022_zps6b8f6d65.jpg) ![](http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii198/maddog1951/Picture021_zps65c774ec.jpg) ![](http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii198/maddog1951/Picture019_zps2c71e53a.jpg) Here's his info: Josh Cummins Cummins Hydrographics Lafayette, IN. 765-413-5015 He has a website, but it's tied to facebook. If you have an account there, google him up. Maddog

Been looking around on the internet. Found a couple in southern IN. Was wondering about northern IN., closer to home. Got a synthetic black stock on my handi rifle that I'm thinking about having camo dipped. Any suggestions, guys?
I'm thinking I'd rather hand deliver it, rather than shipping. Also, once they start on the 2 piece stock, how long does the actual process take?

danf, my feelings exactly. We don't gain a darned thing with this time change goofiness. There are 4 time zones in the continental US, and NY is always off 3 hrs. with LA. Put all the time zones back on standard time and LEAVE IT ALONE!!!

You're right Woody, I don't think he can get any dumber. Same can be said for a boatload of people in DC.

Boys, I'm already thinking ahead for next squirrel season. ;D
I have a brother that lives in Owen Co. west of Spencer. He's got 60 acres I can hunt, anytime I get down there. I also was wondering about the O/P state forest. Any of you boys ever hunt there? I've never hunted public ground in my life-all private, so I don't know all the ins/outs of hunting state ground. Probably no camping, just a day or two of hunting. Is the place crowded? How's the terrain? Any advice appreciated.

As it's been stated, only you can decide. Might add that it's a bad time to buy because of inflated prices on both guns/ammo. Finding the gun is going to be easier than finding the ammo! I might make a suggestion. Regardless of what you buy, you might consider a .22 for training the boys. Ammo is expensive, and you can burn up a lot more ammo for the money. Right now, even .22 is hard to find, but should ease up by summer. I would give serious consideration to 2 handguns. One in .22 and the other in centerfire of your choice. Just a suggestion.

Well, last day of the season. Cold and windy. Went yesterday for 2 hrs. and didn't even see one. Oh well, it's been a great season, and I had a lot of fun. At least this year, Woody, there was a bunch of us kept hunting til the end!
