I follow a trapping form but do not trap. I am wondering what is the benefit in dying traps. I know some take new traps let them rust then die it then wax them. If you wax them to keep them from rusting why let them rust to start with. If the wax is to cover sent won't the wax pick up sent any way. Why not just just set the trap "out of the boxes to speak. I do know that most that set traps in water do not do all this dying waxing stuff. What is the difference.i have set a couple traps in the back yard to get problem coon and ground hogs but never went thru all the prep thoes guys do and got my critters.. was I luckey? I have very little knowledge on trapping and any information will be appreciated.

I did not know he was there as I did not pull cards till after I got him. There was a couple other decent bucks on the cards from December so I may get a shot at a good deer this comming season. Well crap. Something did not work right. Gona see if I can fix it.

Not quite live from the woods but went out about 30 min ago to get an armload of wood for the woodburner and watched a doe and 2 yearlings run/ fast trot accross front yard. Not a normal thing. I see deer once or twice a year here at the house.

I'm thinking of taking my muzzleloader scope and putting it on my .22 to help with accuracy. Of course I would need to sight it in. Anyone else think this is a good idea? The little rectangle open sight on this gun has always been hard for me to aim properly, so I figured that the scope would help If it was me and I could afford it I would get a second scope and leave the one on the muzzeloader. Two reasons. First my eye sight is not good any more and I pretty much need a scope to shoot accurately any more. Second is if you decide to put scope back on muzzeloader the cost of amo to re sight it in could get expensive along with if you decide to hunt with the muzzeloader you have to allow time to transfer scope and resist in. A scope for a 22 can be had cheap as they donot have the recoil of a larger gun. Onebentarrow

To all of my liberal, left leaning friends -
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2024, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other countries nor the only "America" in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishes.
To my right leaning, conservative friends -
Merry Christmas, God Bless You, and best of luck in the coming "Happy" New Year.

What is alpha- gal and how did it cause anaphylaxis shock? Onebentarrow That is caused by a tick bite and makes you allergic to mammal meat, milk, cheese. Anything but chicken or fish. My reaction was severe almost causing my death. Passing out repeatedly, fell broke my nose and head cuts. Swelled my eyes shut and my tongue blocking my airway. Only reason I survived was given Epi pen by ambulance paramedics. WOW! Is it a permanent condition or will the systems decrease over time? Onebentarrow

Not so much getting old but leaving things unsaid and undone. I was told by the ER doctor who treated me in June for anaphylactic shock caused by alpha-gal that I was as close to death as a person can get with out dying if that makes sense. I plan on living a long life but dying doesn’t scare me anymore, it’s part of life. What is alpha- gal and how did it cause anaphylaxis shock? Onebentarrow

If you have a camera that will send pictures to your phone and you suspend the plan will the camera store pictures on a card like a regular camera? I saw one of the cameras that send pictures to phone on sale as cheap as a low budget regular camera. I like running cameras all winter in to spring but do not need emediat update for the entire time so if I could have a plan for a couple months to recieve pictures and then cancel plan and use as regular camera for rest that would be best of both worlds and would not have to have two separate cameras to accomplish what I want to do.

Loosing my eye sight/going blind. With out that ALL my hobbies and likes would be taken away. Fishing, hunting, bees, cutting and splitting fire wood, wood working, flower beds, home improvement/repairs along with not being to watch the lake or see the woods in the fall or snow in winter Even tho I have trouble doing some of them because of knee and back pain I can still enjoy them to some extent and when I can't I Can read or watch a vedio protaining to them to help pass the time. With out my sight I would feel useless and lost And don't think life would be worth liveing. Even tho I hurt I can still do those things, to some extent. I may pay for it the next couple days but that is the way it is.
