Text for the Day -- Ezekiel 28:25-26 ---------- Thus says the LORD GOD: When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and manifest my holiness in them in the sight of the nations, then they shall settle on their own soil that I gave to my servant Jacob. They shall live in safety in it, and shall build houses and plant vineyards. They shall live in safety, when I execute judgments upon all their neighbors who have treated them with contempt. And they shall know that I am the LORD their God.
Devotional ---------- God promises to re-gather the people of Israel scattered in the exile and establish them again to the land. They will be cared for and kept safe by God. The people will know that God is their Lord and rules over all. In the end God wins and brings completion to his intentions. Trust that the promises God has made will be true for you in God's final plan.
Prayer -------- Gracious God, help me keep my eyes fixed on your promises of redemptive love for my life. Amen

-2 on a cold December morning .. bowhunting Muscatatuk NWR after the draw hunts were over. Fortunately there was no wind.. That place was a hot spot at one time… we use to drive there just to count the deer we could see. They had two gates back then also….. Woodmaster and I hunted the first draw hunt that they had there. When we scouted the week before we could not believe it. Huge trees shredded with rubs. Scrapes everywhere. We walked up to within 30 yards of a monster buck that just stood there and looked at us. Deer everywhere, that didn't spook at all. That all changed as soon as the muzzleloaders started popping off. I bow killed a decent sized six pointer. Woodmaster muzzleloader killed a nice ten pointer. Dean Stallion killed a whopper non-typical.

Here’s what the lock gears look like. The smaller gear on the left was stripped cleaned and smooth and the bigger gear had some broken teeth. My guess is they have been wore out for awhile and it finally went. I'm guessing they do not have any equipment inspection procedures in place?

Hopefully the shop has good insurance.
I don’t understand the reasoning of leaving it up? It takes less than a minute to raise it back up.

Text for the Day -- Daniel 7:19, 21-22, 27 ---------- Then I desired to know the truth concerning the fourth beast, which was different from all the rest, exceedingly terrifying, with its teeth of iron and claws of bronze, and which devoured and broke in pieces, and stamped what was left with its feet.
As I looked, this horn made war with the holy ones and was prevailing over them, until the Ancient One came; then judgment was given for the holy ones of the Most High, and the time arrived when the holy ones gained possession of the kingdom.
"The kingship and dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the holy ones of the Most High; their kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey them."
Devotional ---------- The vision of Daniel concludes with the death of the great beast that would enslave the world. The beast will be overcome and people will be delivered from its power. The kingdom of God will emerge for all to participate in. Again, the triumph of Jesus over the power of evil ushers in an everlasting kingdom of peace and justice. God's plan within history moves in this direction.
Prayer ---------- Gracious God, I give you thanks for the victory of Jesus that secures a future in your peace. Amen

Our county is not exactly, a big buck hotbed but both of these were killed here in the same week. A few hunters knew about the big one that the lady killed. My friend had it on camera 15 yards from his stand the day before it was killed and the day it was killed. The pic above is one of the pics and he showed me the other. He told me he was walking out to the woods the morning after it got shot to hunt for it and was sent the pic of the lady holding it literally as he was halfway to his stand lol. Ouch...... that had to hurt.

Nah…shoot what you want shoot - buck, doe, fawn, whatever. If you have a tag in your pocket and a legal deer is in front of you and you want to shoot it - shoot it. That’s fine but don’t blame the neighbors for lack of deer or quality of deer is my point! Saying shoot something because the neighbor would is just silly I agree with that... I don't believe that we should ever let an outsider influence to determine what we should and should not shoot. Our tag and our deer. Example - "I'm not going to shoot that basket eight as the other hunters will make fun of me" - maybe not to my face but behind my back. The next property to us killed two bucks that we passed up in archery season. I had all the bucks that they killed (4) on my trail camera. No problem as they wanted to kill something I or Woodmaster didn't want to kill. Absolutely no guarantee those bucks would have lived until next season.

You can't save'em up like money. If you want one, shoot it or your neighbor will. Or Don’t be the neighbor …. Life choices! Nah…shoot what you want shoot - buck, doe, fawn, whatever. If you have a tag in your pocket and a legal deer is in front of you and you want to shoot it - shoot it.

Text for the Day -- Daniel 7:1-8, 15-18 ---------- In the first year of King Belshazzar of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions of his head as he lay in bed. Then he wrote down the dream: I, Daniel, saw in my vision by night the four winds of heaven stirring up the great sea, and four great beasts came up out of the sea, different from one another. The first was like a lion and had eagles' wings. Then, as I watched, its wings were plucked off, and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a human being; and a human mind was given to it. Another beast appeared, a second one, that looked like a bear. It was raised up on one side, had three tusks in its mouth among its teeth and was told, "Arise, devour many bodies!" After this, as I watched, another appeared, like a leopard. The beast had four wings of a bird on its back and four heads; and dominion was given to it. After this I saw in the visions by night a fourth beast, terrifying and dreadful and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth and was devouring, breaking in pieces, and stamping what was left with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that preceded it, and it had ten horns. I was considering the horns, when another horn appeared, a little one coming up among them; to make room for it, three of the earlier horns were plucked up by the roots. There were eyes like human eyes in this horn, and a mouth speaking arrogantly.
As for me, Daniel, my spirit was troubled within me, and the visions of my head terrified me. I approached one of the attendants to ask him the truth concerning all this. So he said that he would disclose to me the interpretation of the matter: "As for these four great beasts, four kings shall arise out of the earth. But the holy ones of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever — forever and ever."
Devotional ---------- Daniel's apocalyptic vision describes four human kingdoms that shall dominate the earth before the kingdom of the Most High will be delivered to his people. This kingdom will be one that will last forever. These apocalyptic themes are later picked up in the New Testament in terms of Jesus bringing in the everlasting kingdom.
Prayer ------- Lord, grant that I may keep my eyes focused on the end when all things will be brought together in your wonderful kingdom. Amen
