Got my eye injection. Doc is happy the way it's going. Extended the time between injections to two months.
A first - I have 5 black spots in my eyes now. They are low in my vision except when I look down..then they are centered. Google says it a normal reaction and they will fade in a day or two. I think this is my 4th injection and the first time with black spots.
Getting old.. I knew I would but I did not realize it would be this fast. Seems like yesterday I was graduating high school and here I am pushing 85.
I'm not afraid of dying as it is a natural process and my eternity is assured. Getting to the death part concerns me though. Being this old I have seen death of friends and family how they got there. Some went quick and some lingered fighting cancer, Alzheimers and Lou Gehrigs disease. I think I posted once that we had a "gang" that we hunted with. Eight adults and a half dozen kids. I'm the only adult left. We don't get to choose our time or method of passing unless it's suicide and that aint happening with me. I'll take whatever the good Lord sends my way.
Getting old - We are just like an old car. Our parts wear out. Some can be replaced, but not all. The last 5 years has been somewhat downhill for me. 5 years ago I was putting in 6 hours a day, 5 days a week working on Habitat Home Builds. Tough work for a 79 yar old man, but I loved it and got it done. Now, if I work 2 or 3 hours in my yard I'm pooped out. Got to rest up even the next day. Like someone else mentioned walking a 1/4 mile to my stand is now a par three for me. Three stops and catch my breath. Like most older folks my balance is not near as good. This past days of hunting I did a couple trips and falls walking in and out of my stand. A piece of log sticking up or a vine grabbing my foot and down I go. Before it was just a stumble and now it's a fall. I've got a pair of walking/hiking sticks that I am anxious to try out, They work great for a friend of mine. I don't hunt near as often and as hard as I used to. It's no big deal if I kill a deer/turkey or not anymore.
Memory- I never was much good at remembering names. I've got a large family and keeping track of all of them is a chore. The wife handles the birthdays, thankfully!
Getting old is what it is.. just try and stay as active as you can.

Text for the Day -- Isaiah 1:27-31 ---------- Zion shall be redeemed by justice, and those in her who repent, by righteousness. But rebels and sinners shall be destroyed together, and those who forsake the LORD shall be consumed. or you shall be ashamed of the oaks in which you delighted; and you shall blush for the gardens that you have chosen. For you shall be like an oak whose leaf withers, and like a garden without water. The strong shall become like tinder, and their work like a spark; they and their work shall burn together, with no one to quench them.
Devotional ---------- Repentant one or rebel? That was the question people had to ask of themselves and answer at the time of Isaiah. Repentant ones will be redeemed by righteousness. Rebels will be destroyed. That question confronts humanity today. Repentant one or rebel? God holds the world accountable and continues to call people to seek justice and righteousness in what they do. It begins by seeing the wrongs in which we engage, individually and corporately.
Prayer ------ Give me courage to repent of my wrongs, gracious God. Amen

With the recent events I have asked - Why is God putting up with this? Why doesn't he just end it all right now? I think this scripture answers it...
Text for the Day -- II Peter 3:1-4, 8-9 ---------- This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you; in them I am trying to arouse your sincere intention by reminding you that you should remember the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets, and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken through your apostles. First of all you must understand this, that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and indulging their own lusts and saying, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since our ancestors died, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation!"
But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance.
Devotional ---------- Most of the time we have difficulty reconciling our expectations for a quick fix with God's time period. This makes God's promises a test for us. How long can we wait for God to act? How long will God wait and how long can we wait for an answer? What is God expecting to happen to us while we wait? Could it be repentance or is it letting go?
Prayer ------- Teach me to use waiting time for transformation and renewal, O Lord. Amen

Was anyone brave enough to hit that link? Cause that post reeks of a scam phishing post. Not I. I'll send Woody a note. Looks legit to me.. Just someone trying to drum up people to look at their site. I’ve got enough folks telling me what is the “best” whatever. 😉

A Romantic Outing
A man and a woman were having a quiet, romantic dinner in a fine restaurant. They were gazing lovingly at each other and holding hands.
The waitress, taking another order at a table a few steps away, suddenly noticed the woman slowly sliding down her chair and under the table but the man stared straight ahead.
The waitress watched as the woman slid all the way down her chair and out of sight under the table. Still, the man stared straight ahead.
The waitress, thinking this behavior a bit risqué, and worried that it might offend other diners, went over to the table and, tactfully, began by saying to the man, "Pardon me, sir, but I think your wife just slid under the table."
The man calmly looked up at her and said, "No, she didn't. She just walked in."
