Billy,
We are very happy to have you back with your wit and vast knowledge of hunting.
We were concerned about you and your health. Glad it wasn’t that!
Looking forward to your posts!

Text for the Day -- John 15:1-5 ---------- 'I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine-grower. He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.'
Devotional ---------- The key concept in this teaching by Jesus is image of abiding - 'Abide in me and as I abide in you.' Jesus calls us to become aware of and respond to his indwelling presence. It is not as if we have to go somewhere else, some where special, to find out where Jesus dwells. Like a vine and its branches we have a living relationship and connection. Under the direction of his word we live out his love in the world, bearing the fruit of his kingdom.
Prayer ---------------- Help me be more conscious of your indwelling presence, gracious Lord. Amen

Wow. Most I have seen lately is $2.75 - $3 locally. I hardly ever drink anything but water while eating at a restaurant. Our local McDonald's have gone from $1.07 for a large drink to $1.92. Water with triple lemon. Squeeze them all, add a couple packets of sugar substitute and viola - zero cost Lemonade!

Text for the Day -- Psalm 95:1-2, 6-7 ---------- O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
O that today you would listen to his voice!
Devotional ---------- This psalm is the opening song of the morning prayer liturgy used for centuries in the church. This invitation to worship is filled with the images that reflect the nature and character of our God we worship. God is our Rock, our Salvation and our Shepherd. We, the sheep created by God, live under the Shepherd's care and healing. The whole creation is the wonderful pasture created for the sheep of God.
Prayer ---------------- I bless you today, Lord, for your gifts of grace that sustain my life. Amen

From David Jeremiah's Walking With Jesus devotional: A MOTHER'S LOVE
"As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you." Isaiah 66:13
"Mother's Day is a time to love our mothers. We honor their memory if they're in heaven, and we hug their necks if they're still on earth. If we can't be with them, we call them. But not everyone has good memories of a loving mother, and for some childless women, this can be a sad day. God is our Heavenly Father. He's never called our 'heavenly mother.' But some passages do speak of Him as having the qualities we need from a mother. In Isaiah 49, the people felt God had forgotten them. But the Lord said, 'Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands' (verses 15-16). Our Lord loves us more than even a mother can love her child. He comforts us.
Our mothers aren't perfect, but how wonderful to honor them, love them, and rejoice in the grace God has given them. If your relationship with your mother is less than ideal, rest yourself in God's love and comfort. He will never forget you. You are truly inscribed on the palms of His hands!"

Text for the Day -- I Peter 5:1-4 ---------- Now as an elder myself and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as one who shares in the glory to be revealed, I exhort the elders among you to tend the flock of God that is in your charge, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion but willingly, as God would have you do it-not for sordid gain but eagerly. Do not lord it over those in your charge, but be examples to the flock. And when the chief shepherd appears, you will win the crown of glory that never fades away.
Devotional ---------- Peter speaks to the pastors and leaders of the church. He lifts up the image of the Good Shepherd, Jesus, a model of humility and oversight in training and leading a congregation. Faithful shepherds are sorely needed in the church. The power of leadership has such a potential for bringing down a leader who abuses power or falls prey to pride.
Prayer ---------------- Bless the church with faithful shepherds, gracious God. Amen

Although the article doesn't highlight the incident of "Jacklighting " it does state that there were charges of "Jacklighting". Shameful that this all had to go down like this. Kudos to the Ohio DNR for taking their time and doing a thorough investigation into this event. It appears that spotlighting is illegal in Ohio…It doesn't say if the Deer was shot that way. Spotlighting is illegal in Ohio. My best guess is he did it anyway and located the deer. Whether he shot it with a light will probably come out in the trial. The man's name is mud for the rest of his life.. He will always be remembered as the poacher

Stick a fork in me..
My 2024 Indiana Spring turkey season is history.
Two firsts -

2) passed two small long beards
Enjoyed it none the less

A couple of questions…
Did he shine the deer and shoot it with a crossbow?
Did he sell the antlers for $20,000?

You would think with all that gobbling going on this morning the turkeys would be everywhere.
They must be “everywhere” elsewhere!

Most gobbling I’ve heard here in a long time. Three different birds have been hitting it off and on. The one close has now shut up
