Well I know what it sounds like when 3 coyotes attack a raccoon 10 yards behind me. I saved the raccoon.

Well I know what it sounds like when 3 coyotes attack a raccoon 10 yards behind me. I saved the raccoon. Yikes! Raccoons sound bad enough fighting with each other. |

I heard them in the bean field behind me but couldn’t figure out what it was. I’m about 10 yards in the woods and they came behind me just to my left just inside the woods. I didn’t want to waste a $25 arrow so I just yelled, and the coyotes ran off and the raccoon climbed a tree next to mine. Hadn’t seen a deer yet?

Went out last night a little before 6 and saw nil again - until I got down and started walking back that is. They were 100 yards away from the stand working their way into the orchard I was watching but on the wrong side of a small ravine... Didn't see them just heard them snort when I started walking past.

Had a little action this evening off in the distance. Saw this guy feeding across a standing bean field about 200 yds out around 6:15. A couple does started feeding their way towards where he went back into the woods. The buck came bolting out chasing that doe across the field. Saw a spike feeding off to the side too. Fun evening….  |

Here's my best buck day time picture so far. A nice 8 pt. This new stand location is active with mostly morning daytime pictures. The deer must feel secure there.   |

Saw 12 turkeys, 4 bucks and 2 does. The bucks were after the one doe and watched a couple of 8 points playfully spar. One buck was decent but passed, to early in the season and I saw too much sign where a big buck is around.

Got home from Branson around 3:30. Sitting in the blind now overlooking our creek bottom. Just nice to be sitting in the woods for the first time this season.

Ordered a new toy today. Tikka T3x veil lite Alpine 300 wsm. Okay, so maybe I’ll have to come down for the last week of rifle if I can get others to empty my cooler our last weekend.
