I got a quick bite and back out around 11. In the popup to stay out of the wind. Located between woods and overgrown field. Hope to catch a buck traveling to doe bed spots. Staying to 1 pm

Bad news....something isn't right....might have bent the rail.....looks like I'm done for at least the day.

Soooo close. Still scouting, standing in shade of a tree and I see buck headed my way, quartering to. I thought he was small, but got my crossbow up in case.
He crossed a ditch and I realized he was a shooter. Waiting on him to get more broadside and at 30 yards wind must've swirled because he took off.
I have my face in the wind, but of course at that moment it swirled. I think at least a 10, tall and wide. Easily 150, most likely more. Dammit.

Finally had 1st buck come through at Bluegrass. Little half-racked 4 pointer. Seen so many half racked deer there through the years. Just not much moving

What a hunt. I had my fill of sitting on a hard seat and wife said foods hot if I wanted to eat.....so I got down and crept up to where I thought the deer may have been.
Got to about 35 yards. He was bedded. I saw him before he saw me. I had him in my cross hairs but I wanted him standing. Bedded I just didn't know where the bolt would enter.
I got greedy and went to take a few steps closer and stepped on a branch. He stood up and took 4 steps away. No shot.....he was for sure a shooter. Probably top 3 deer I have seen while himting....next weekend will be better prepared.

I'm set up in my saddle where I jumped some does and found some good sign. Maybe that big one will circle around later today and come my way for a second chance.

Got home half hour ago from class and getting ready to head out now despite some moderate south-north wind. Should be a good wind for our valley double stand.

Veterans Day program at grandson’s school this morning. Drove to Perry county and up in a tree, lots of sighting in going on , sounds like a war.

We're back out in the reduction program over here in Ohio. Slipped back into the spot we've been seeing all the deer, but made about a 50 yard adjustment. Still hoping a doe strolls by. Weve seen plenty of cruising the last couple of days. He set his first traps.of the season out today, so his deer hunting time is gonna get cut down some.

Daughter and I are out at my place.
She turned 18 early Oct and this year decided she wanted to sit by herself.
I’m not totally dumb though, I can see her in the stand about 125 yds away.
Got my 👀 on her.
Little breezy and warm but my cameras were pretty active today so we’ll see.

I sat till 1 and didn't see anything. First time hunting that stand this year and not seeing anything. I'll be back at it tomorrow. Playing pickleball this evening. Since I got my state buck and I'm just buck hunting until Saturday I have to hunt my reduction zone place.
