Good luck to all getting out there in the morning, and congrats to all who got it done this past week. I am going to try and get out of lab early tomorrow (it's a help session for an exam - I had zero time to study this week and the exam is in 2 weeks so I'm good) and go hunting. Trouble is, I want the exercise so do I walking to my usual spots deeper in the property or do I just take the quick walk to the edge of the creek bottoms where bucks are known to hang out? Can't decide! Glad I couldn't go this evening - too windy. Will be time to break out the scent. Had a big poultry show yesterday in OH so couldn't hunt all last week at all - seeing what you all were posting and saying sure got me fired up though! Did see one yesterday morning on a mission through a field next to 71 between Columbus and Mansfield, OH on our way to Columbus for the show. Then today around noon in Hancock Co, IN a decent 8 was cruising in a field right next to I70. They were moving.

Good morning everyone! I'm up and having coffee before I head out. I plan on getting set-up early this morning, tight between bedding and food. I won't want to be using my phone too much before sunrise and very little afterwards.
I wish everyone the best of luck this morning! As always, hunt safe and God bless!

Owls started hooting and it was pretty dang cool. 1st one was about where I parked then next one further to the west then another then another. Ended up hearing 10 different owls. I was almost laughing out loud. I have heard owls call back and forth but this was different. Worth the sit Maybe 20 or so years ago, I was in the stand well before first light, and something dark swooped across my face but didn’t touch me. No idea what it was. Another minute, and it happened again, realized it was an owl. Absolutely could not hear wings or any idea it was coming. I freaked out and hurried down the stand till it was light enough to see. No way I want one of those things latching on my face. I had a similar thing happen. I was greeted by an owl sitting on a branch a few feet from my face. I had no idea it was there until daylight. I eased my 12g barrel towards it and kept my finger on the trigger until it finally flew off. I'll never forget that morning.

All set to continue the grind. Deeper in the woods off of a small ridge. Playing the wind a little close but gotta try something new. See how it goes.

I had an owl fly past me a week ago on the afternoon of November 2 and land in a tree. Weird to see one out in the daylight. It stared at the ground for a while, then flew down to grab something, then flew to another tree.

I was set-up and ready at 5:27 CST. Unfortunately, I bumped some deer on the way in. Walking a half mile through cut corn, I suppose it's bound to happen.
Just had a woodcock land 3 yards from the base of the tree.

Just got into my stand behind the house. Made sure my daughter made it off to school alright before heading down here. Sure would like to see that big 8 again like last time.

I got up at 4:30 as planned, dressed, and left to farm at 4:47. Made great time to farm and was there at 5:35. In the stand by 5:50. Beautiful quiet morning. Had a button buck and spike sparing in front so far. No hot doe and big buck yet. See two more deer right now. Need to pay attention.

Made it into the stand on time. Had some minor crossbow issues I think I fixed. Just had a forky slide through.

I had a deer in the willows so I gave a few soft grunts. Maybe a 2year old basket rack came out. I let him wander off and waited 20 minutes and did a rattling sequence. A little forky came right in not 30 seconds later.

There are deer to the left of me. Does feeding and running from two basket bucks. All about 80 yards from stand. About 40 yards near neighbors property. No one hunts it. I'm on the inside corner fence line. I look up the fence line about 30 yards in.

I need to figure out where they go from neighbors to brother's farm. I had a stand about 140 yards in line with deer in a big oak tree. They didn't cross there so thinking were I'm at now. Some cross here, but other spot is better. I think I need to put another stand 100 yards form big oak tree the other way. There is no good way to hunt where I think they go. I need to scout after gun season and get creative on a good stand location.
