Never fun losing a deer. Son of a guns are tuff critters, and amazing sometimes what they can survive.

My vacation starts today. Settled in the stand, a little later than I should have. The shooter I'm after was on camera last night about a half mile away.

Several of the "so called deer experts" are saying next 3 days will be the best 3 days of hunting for buck movement. In most of Midwest, we are just days away from peak breeding. Best of luck to everyone.

Not good deer hunting this morning. Cloudy, windy and 56 out. Two days ago the forecast was clear low of 42. Off by a mile.

Back where I missed the yote. Was hoping wind was more north than east so hoping it continues to shift.
Spooked 2 on my walk in

I’d try thermal drone guys . That shot doesn’t look that bad if he bedded up . Any recommendations? I will pass it along to him Have you tried the Trakr app to get a dog? If it only got one lung, that deer could live. But, if it does kill him, it may take some time. Good luck and sorry about this outcome.

Slipped into a groundblind I set up Tuesday on the edge of a big bedding thicket. Thankful to have the opportunity to hunt these reduction programs, but they really put the handcuffs on sometimes. The 31 acres my boy has to hunt consists of probably 25+ acres thicket. Best spot we've found is on the very back of the property, but it'll be almost impossible to access without bumping deer.

Does anyone ever see a correlation to how many deer you see a sit depending on if it’s sunny or cloudy. For some reason I see so many more deer on sunny days where I hunt as opposed to cloudy

For some reason I see so many more deer on sunny days where I hunt as opposed to cloudy Can’t say I really noticed a difference but with that I do know on cloudy days like today they practically disappear in the woods 60 yds and beyond. Like a ghost.

Good move to popup. Out of the wind and seen small buck then doe. Big difference getting out of the wind.
