I’m setup again. Same set of big woods from yesterday’s action but in the woods. Had some chasing in the dark all around me but all is quiet now.

In one of my favorite stands from last year. Sits between a standing corner and hay field. Hope to catch a cruising buck.
I for some reason have yet to dial in my time correctly and pulled in at shooting light. After near heart attach climbing the hill I am settled in nice. Wet and calm hope the deer come crashing or I may miss rhem

Pretty fun watching them   |

I live where ducks and geese don't, my kids are less dependent on adults, I have a better work life ballance and good access within 5 miles of my drive. If I get really desperate I could slum on Crane too but that is like 20 miles and check in, check out....rules....I don't like deer hunting that much |

To those of you that have been out more recently, how is the rut action? My cameras have been very, very quiet the last few days, my vacation starts Friday afternoon thru gun opener. Not a fan of the mild temps they are calling for but the action should explode the next 3-5 days or so I would think.

6 of us hunting on Crane only one guy has even seen anything . Impossible to do all day sits if deer won’t move .

To those of you that have been out more recently, how is the rut action? My cameras have been very, very quiet the last few days, my vacation starts Friday afternoon thru gun opener. Not a fan of the mild temps they are calling for but the action should explode the next 3-5 days or so I would think. I had tons of chasing November 1st and 2nd. Havnt been out snice seen a big 8 out 2 hours before last light chasing a doe around, but then my in laws 15miles away doe feeding peacefully in field. |

Had a nice buck standing behind me at 25 yds this morning. He gets a pass this year from me. He was just out walking around searching. Been slow with no activity to speak of around me.

Cameras have been active with bucks (only 1 nice one though) the past couple of days. Highly anticipated a lot of action today after the winds came through. Had a nice 8 come by at 730AM and that was it. Hung in there until 1230. We're still playing football so evenings are out but tomorrow morning I'll be back at it. The buck today was just cruising, have yet to see or hear chasing or grunts although the camera seemed to catch a doe running and 2 minutes later, a buck with nose on the ground. (Southern Jackson County) |

Got to the farm for the first time this year. Put together a new ladder stand that is going on the edge of some CRP (which is OUT of control this year). Then I start head back toward the stand in the woods. I jumped a MONSTER at the edge of the CRP..... almost crapped my pants. He took off into the woods and if I would have been in that stand he would have been done. Man I hope to get another look at him.

Back at camp and just got situated in the stand.
Light wind,somewhat warm and extremely quiet.no dqurrels and few birds quacking.
I am buck hunting now so the stands I pick to hunt will not be solely on wind but where I think I have the best chance at getting a buck with the wind I do have.
Plans are to stay in camp till sat night unless I connect

All set for the evening. My place along a dry creek and nasty thick woods. Moved this stand from another spot so will see how it goes. Kinda wish I’d used that chainsaw more on the shooting lanes. 🤔

Took off early, and get home to a steady rain. All my gear is soaked, so just gonna get stuff dried out for a.m. hunt tomorrow. Saw this buck close to home on way to work this a.m.  |

A Friend got one this morning. 168 rough scoring.
Weight was only 160 field dressed which seemed really low.
