Lots of deer movement this morning, two small bucks and this guy at 35 yards. I’m just out of pictures frame. Nothing so far this evening, different stand.

Couple toms snuck in behind me and started putting. I couldn't get a shot.

They are fired up. Moving at 830am this morning. Kinda shocked. I hunted the refugee many a time and the deer do the exact same thing to every tree like in the pic and usually all at night….it does get hope through!

Seems about right. 😆 My favorite period to hunt (Nov.1-7)during seeking and chasing phases, and forecast for SE IN is rainy. We need the rain , so will just have to deal with it. I can handle light rain, but with bow generally I set out. Doesn't look like washout, at least.

My bud and I are going in as a no show. It a primitive muzzleloader weekend there. You should get in easily at one time they let folks use archery gear on that weekend. The First few gun hunts are the ones at can be full on the no-show.

30 minutes before dark I heard slow, steady footsteps in the leaves behind me. The unmistakable sound of a lone buck walking. It was on the trail I hoped it would come in on. Straight behind me the entire time. My heart sped up and I started taking deep breaths to calm down. I slowly turned and got into position. Out from the brush stepped a scrawny spike right into my shooting lane. Perfect set up, wrong deer. I laughed inside and relaxed back into my seat. Tomorrow is my only morning to hunt until next weekend. I hope the right deer walks by.

The First few gun hunts are the ones at can be full on the no-show. I believe they still allow archery equipment. At least that’s what I thought I heard Joe say.

In for my first morning sit of the year. I spooked one coming in, that is exactly why I am not a huge fan of morning hunts.

We are gonna put up a couple stands, skurry hunt, and double check gun zero's.
Then plan to be in the deer woods this evening.
