Going out tonight after 5- except I have an appointment at 4 I forgot about. In town all day (school and appointment) then out to watch an orchard from a stand that hasn't produced well for us.

Beautiful morning in East Central Indiana. Only took 10 minutes into legal light to be fooled by a squirrel 🤦🏼♂️

I’ll be headed to a public land place I used to hunt for years before I started getting into private. Want to give my place a break and am on doe patrol. This is also the place I killed my buck last year and also where I have taken my biggest buck to date.

My cams lit up pretty good today between 8-9:30am. No big bucks but a few 2.5-year-olds and tons of does moving.

He came in around 9:00 am with a smaller buck from behind me. He turned broadside at 15 yards. It was a heart shot but he only went about 10 yards and fell over which was kinda weird. Not a giant but pretty cool to get one on the first sit of the year.

The one with a bow went about 15-20 yards and toppled over. The one with the rifle went 200 yards out into a hay field before he fell.

Killing a buck this early is bittersweet. Happened to me twice. Haven’t regretted it though.

Nice one buckert!
Sat in a stand overlooking an orchard this evening but didn't see a thing.... A few squirrels, birds, and 2-3 chipmunks. No deer. About 7:15 one blew in the distance though. Then around 7:30 2 coyote packs started calling - one in the pasture near where I hunt and the other in the woods across the road. Walking back to the car I saw a large yote come bounding across the yard... Looked a lot like a German Shepherd but no dogs here and definitely acted more like a yote plus was near the field I heard the first pack in. Put the scope on it for in - don't have permission to shoot yotes here.
