A strutter and hen out in the field. They did not come from way of all the gobbling. Had to come out of the swamp.

Well, I made my way out of there and back to the house. Luckily, I have another gun and three shells for it waiting here. The turkeys have been consistent on the far side of the field where I’m at, so I will probably hold off until tomorrow morning.

Headed off to do a small job today. Looked out the back window and have a gobbler and 3 jakes 50 yds from my blind. lol. The gobbler has a 7-8” beard so not the big long one we have around here. He was out last night.

It clicked but not a scratch on the primer. You don't by chance have a saddle mount with a scope on do you?

I gotta work tonight, so not gonna stay much longer. Need a nap to recharge a little. Only a couple shots heard so far.
My fingers are numb from this wind. Saying even colder tomorrow morning. Will adjust for that.

I set up on the downwind side of a huge open field with the wind roaring right in my face. Rain on and off with nothing but ducks geese and sandhill cranes and deer. I gave it up after 2 1/2 hours of punishment.
Only thing I am grateful for is we're not out on the BIG LAKES fishing.

Had one come in and hang up about 100 yards up the hill. He stayed there, gobbling off and on, for 1.5 hours before I had to leave for work. He was still there when I left.
As I left the house, I could see a couple more toms and some hens out in the ag field across the road.
I’ll be back at it for a couple hours this evening.

One thing they taught us in firearms training is to never RIDE THE SLIDE shut always let it slam shut.

Just had a gobbler come out of the pines right by the blind. He saw the decoys and didn't like them so he circled around a brush pile and went back into the pines. His beard was pencil thin so I never even reached for the gun.
