Called it quits earlier than usual. Had to get him to get ready for the afternoon evening of watching/working the schools musical. I ended up having a gobbler within a hundred yards behind me. Only gobbled three times and never heard him again. Thought for sure he would come in silently, but nope.

Nothing else for us. On the ride home, we did stop and see 3 Jake's together in one field. That was it. Calling for rain/storm tomorrow morning. Will see how it plays out.
I knew losing our ace in the hole was gonna put the hurting on us this season.

About ready for as nap was out late last night at a Reception
Only got about 4 1/2 hours of sleep before the alarm went off to hunt got done and just mowed grabbing a shower off to a graduation than a party after that tomorrow got a 90th birthday party hopefully you guys have good evening hunts

Had a friend take me to a property he hunts this morning. Heard a couple and decided to try the closest one. Got set up and had the bird at 60 yards when a coyote busted up our party. He wouldn't come back to the same setup. We swung around 2 ridge fingers and got above him and sat down in what looked to be a great spot and couldn't get him to come up and see us. He shock gobbled at a shot that was nearby, but wouldn't respond to us.
My watch says I walked 4 miles this morning and I feel like it!

About ten years ago I hunted every day. Some were all dayers and killed my bird the last afternoon. Dumb lucked into that one as he wasn’t really responding to my calling but just picked by at 50 yards. I had ranged a tall weed at 50 and I says to myself,”Self, if he is at that weed or closer I’m dropping the hammer.” He was right at it so BOOM! |

For sure. I killed my best and my least on the last day, so a long ways from throwing in the towel. About ten years ago I hunted every day. Some were all dayers and killed my bird the last afternoon. I had ranged a tall weed at 50 and I says to myself,”Self, if he is at that weed or closer I’m dropping the hammer.” He was right at it so BOOM! A veteran hunter should know two things... 1) It ain't over till the fat lady sings. 2) Luck is more important than skill most times. Lol. |

Only had two opportunities to get out this year. This morning was my last chance. I took this Jake 6 minutes after sunrise. It was a fun hunt and I’m glad I was able to fill my tag. He weighed 15 lbs.  |

We seen a few strutters on way to and from Michigan City. Took wife to Galvestons Steakhouse for her birthday. I knocked down a 22oz ribeye like childs play. 😂
