Out last night had 4 birds with probably 5 6 inch beards from above post must be 1 year old fans are round but I’ve got another with just a stub beard maybe 1 or 2 inch’s but it also has a round fan the three with longer beards are heavier birds thinking the smaller one was born late or something

Most birds I’ve seen in awhile. Maybe not as vocal, but definitely a lot of turkeys this year.

He only weighed 17.8 lb. 10-in beard and like half inch spurs. I haven't measured them. Not one pellet in the meat. I must have hit him with like one pellet. Congratulations!

It was beautiful full moon morning, calm but cool and damp.
Heard a lot of gobbling but not near me.
Plenty of deer snorting in the dark
Saw my first Baltimore Oriol of the year.
Good morning to have been out, might have to do some mushroom hunting this afternoon.

We haven't seen any birds while out driving in last few days up here in the NW. I think the peak is past here, but of course only takes one to finish out.

Exactly right! Reminds me of a hunt a few years back, my neighbor and I went out on the last day. We hunted separate fields but could see each other's set up. I dropped him off and then got to my spot and set up (10 minutes maybe?). I looked through the binoculars right after and thought to myself, I don't remember him having 2 decoys, about that time "boom" and it was bird down. Couldn't have been 15 minutes after he set up.

Back at it on public this morning. Had a gobbler roosted close going 10 times a minute all morning. Eventually flew down and I called him to 10 yards on the logging road. I was on the down slope and he would not pop his head up, saw it only for a brief second then went behind a tree. He walked off gobbling his head off. These deep woods can be real frustrating trying to get a good setup

Had a longbeard go around me a little while ago at 65-70 yards. Now over in there and won't shut up and won't come back. Called once to let him know I'm still here. Nice to at least see a good one.

Get em boys! Warming up nicely now.
We'll be back at it tomorrow. This morning was tempting, but my plate was too full to pull it off.

Getting ready to take my neighbor out for a mid day hunt (he's having a hard time getting around). He calls me his taxi service! I drop him off at the blind and then pick him up. For what success I've had at hunting deer and turkey, I owe him quite a bit for his knowledge. Sure would like to see him get one.

Ol Tom gobbled for an hour and a half and then went quiet. He finally got into one little opening and I could see him walking away about 100 yards off. I heard him gobble one more time about 100 yards further. I believe Elvis has left the building.

Had a turkey behind me for the longest time, heard a gobble nearby shortly before so thought it might have been him. In the thickets, now I’m thinking it was a hen going to her nest

Says he knows for sure he can't kill one from the garage!

The look on his face and his buddies he got to see was priceless.
