Well today was a first for me.....first turkey of an evening and first time for two birds in a year (KY and IN). Not a very exciting story. Being so windy I hunted on the side of a hill facing away from the wind and it was just calm as all get out. Looked at my phone - 6:04, I was thinking the birds I heard gobbling on the roost was somewhere close to where I was set up. No calling and shortly after setting up, I saw a bird working his way towards me. He came up on the logging road below me at that was it. Got my future hunting buddy (Elli) next to me....she wasn't quite sure about it! LOL  19 lbs 1" spurs 8.5" beard Gotta love it when a plan comes together!! Congratulations!! |

It was also the quickest hunt.....pulled the trigger at 620. When it comes to these guys, I'll take lucky over good!

We didnt see any birds on Sunday. Nothing while hunting as reported, but also none on ride home, or around the neighborhood in the afternoon where they have been regular. Something must have been in the air. We did see a lot of deer over the weekend as a lot of others said. Total washout in the NW part of the state today.
I doubt I get out during the week. It's a killer for me on sleep. Plus we got meetings this week at work, so I want to be my best. Good luck all.

Rain, sleet, and very windy, it's supposed to be like this tomorrow also.
Wednesday looks OK through the weekend.
On the bright side we got that much needed moisture that might get the mushrooms going.

Congrats Parker. I think you have motivated me to go out tonight although it doesn't take much. Last night was miserable and I saw less activity than I have the other 3 nights I have hunted.

Cold rain nasty days are tuff but that’s what I had last night still seen birds nothing close but it was nasty with wind just don’t seem to care |

Although it's been windy and rainy here all day, I've had birds in the field behind my house off and on all day. A tom and two hens are currently back by the woods where I got mine

The old saying you can't kill them from the couch, laying in bed or the truck is true. I know the early mornings, all day hunts and late evenings take a toll on the body and mind. But the season comes and goes so fast. Just like deer season, A person just has to keep grinding away and your season can change in a minute. Have to have a positive attitude and faith.
