We are changing things up today. Gonna try 8-noonish. Birds arent roosting where we are. So it takes them awhile to get to us if at all. We are running out if gas too early I'm thinking. So, waking up at 7am is way better today than 4:45am. See y'all from the blind in a bit.

Out here again, a little chill in the air and the fog settling in. Not much gobbling going on. Good luck all

No rain here and don't believe they are calling for any in Franklin co. Have my doubts but in blind where I missed my bird. Have things to do today and it's right by the house. Maybe I'll get lucky. Good luck everyone Rain started late yesterday been off and on all night mostly just a short shower says it will be that way most of today

While a hen was ripping the head off my dsd hen decoy a tom stepped out. He looked around, then looked down the opposite treeline and ran for his life 🤷. May not have liked jake decoy. With hen up here figured it was a done deal

Had three Tom’s a jake trailing a hen at 25 yards could of taken the jake the Tom’s were strutting pushing looked like a wrestling match I could not get a clear shot on any of them only had 20 seconds or so normally they stop and eat in that area but the hen just kept on walking
I’ve tried calling they just don’t seem to care maybe I’ll try a couple decoys see if that makes any difference

As said, birds dont roost here very much, so it's a transition where they cross a ridge from a dry swamp to fields and gravel pits. Historically has action.

Yesterday I was able to get within 150 yards or so of a roosted bird. He went silent after fly down, I waited about an hour or so and he never came in. So I decided to go after one that was still gobbling. On the way I managed to spook one but he ran straight into a block of isolated timber. I looped around and once I got in the timber, I would sit and call for 15-20 minutes then move deeper into the woods. He snuck out on me somewhere along the way because on my way back to where I started I saw two toms in the adjacent field strutting for a couple of hens. They seemed to be slowing working their way back towards where I started so I quickly worked my way back over to where I started. I used a little hill at the edge of the woods as cover and set my jake decoy up. The birds were probably 200 yards out. They immediately began to come my way so I dropped back about 20 yards and waited. I had to get them in the woods to be on the property. When I peeked over the edge 5 minutes later they were in range but off the property. I called a little and finally one popped up over the hill and into range and on the property. 10-3/4" beard and 1" spurs.

I took today off. Sure was nice to sleep in and I’ll work on things around the house. Rained this morning and supposed to start again around one and I don’t mind missing on days like that. Plus it’s only a stupid turkey that frustrates the heck out of me. Last four days have been fun though.
