They sure look like them to me. As long as they have the gills on the under side they are good to go. Only way I’ve cooked them is to sauté in butter, but I’m sure cooking like a breaded morel would be fine as well.

Usually let my buddy come over and fill up a few Walmart bags full of them. I’ve eaten them, but just not a huge fan. One thing you can check though is if you have any local smaller restaurants sometimes they will buy them from you to use in their recipes. I know the story inn here in brown county will do that sometimes. Or try to sell on marketplace or Craigslist. |

I tried a little bite raw, and didn’t taste like much of anything. Didn’t throw up though either! I suppose enough flour and butter could make a dog turd taste good too! I’m not gonna sell any, not that motivated but thanks again for the info.

What kind of mushrooms are these? I have never had these around by me before. Chanterelles I like them. Don't eat many as I don't get out in the woods a whole lot this time of the year but easy to find. Chance to find pheasant backs and chicken of the woods, too. All good in my opinion. |

I found mushrooms today that look exactly as the ones in the photo however they did not have gills underneath they were a solid surface.
I passed.

I would pass on those too, but can’t figure out what that would be. Even the look alike chanterelles (jack-o-lantern) have gills, but they’re different than the real thing.

I think Jack's grow off dead wood where chants are out of the dirt. Clearly there could be dead wood buried and I wouldn't eat any unless you are very confident. In addition only eat a little bit for the first attempt. Even the choice edibles can hard on your digestive system
I can't eat morels anymore, last time I puked my guts out and batch before that just had bad stomach ache. Ate morels most of my life...no idea what changed but I don't tempt fate any longer. My wife can't eat chicken of the woods.
