Found some ringless honeys Saturday, but left them after researching how to cook and eat 'em. If they aren't the "fry 'em up in the skillet with butter" type, I'm not interested. I like my mushrooms battered and fried!!

This has been a poor year for me, not many MORELS, and no HONEYS, but today the blind pig found a nice one. I stumbled onto a CHICKEN OF THE WOODS and a dandy one at that.
It probably weighed about 4-5 pounds and yield several nice meals.

O.K. Does anybody have any idea what this is? Found it today, 9-18-2023 growing on a tree stump.

It's a nice looking CHICKEN OF THE WOODS. O.K., thanks I will go pick it tomorrow. Will it last 5 days in the fridge? I won't be able to cook it until Sunday. Maybe Wed night, but I don't know if I will have the time.

If your going to keep it just rinse it off and dry it, DON'T SOAK IT. Read up on cooking them because some folks had a problem consuming them.
I like to batter it up like fish and deep fry it.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST: Don't base your decisions on my response to your photo, check and double check.
