I just looked it up. My hunting block is 1 mile by 2 miles. Roughly 1200 acres. In that 1200 acres I count roughly 40 property's. So says on X. So your right, I might have exaggerated a little. And that includes a cornfield on the one end that's probably 150 acres..

Mike, When was that? I could be wrong but I don’t think the DNR has released any age data since their 2013 Deer Report. Then they posted in the 2014 Deer Repott because of a combination of check ins (online snd check stations) that the age number was biased towards older age. They dropped it altogether after that. Was it reinstated? If so what year? Think they put a estimated avg. Always seems like it was between 2.5 and 3. They may have stopped due to online checkin. Over years I had them check a couple. From the 2014 Deer Report… “ Evaluation of the on-line check-in data for the opening week- end of the Firearms season showed that hunters were more likely to report antlered bucks at check stations than online, but were more likely to report button bucks online than at check stations, thus biasing estimates toward an older age structure than the actual harvest. For this reason, we cannot continue to provide age class estimates of adult deer until we can find a valid method for correcting this bias.” So any age data when we had a combo online/check in station (Began in 2012) check in is biased upward towards and older age class. I have not looked hard but I don’t recall any age data or age estimates since 2013. I do have the yearling percentage data from 1990 through 2007. It shows a remarkable decline from 69% to 46%. Most of the decline was in the two buck era.

I see deer. Just nothing I'm ever interested in shooting. I've killed 1 buck there in 4 years. But I've seen lots of doe. I hunted there opening day of gun. Only to walk back to the 4 wheeler to find the fork horn laying there that the neighbor had shot. Right beside the 4 wheeler.

To top it off, that is part part of my gripe. If I was to soley hunt in my non reduction spot. Man I'm lucky to have a few hunts that I get opportunities. I made the decision to hunt that reduction area because that's where most of the GUN hunting does NOT occur. I was forced to hunt a yard to get action cause I can't get it in my county. Does that make any since? Sounds like there killing to many doe in your county. Like I said. One doe rule for the One buck rule.

I have family in Illinois and I bow hunt over there. I spend the 480 to get nonres tags. Mainly because of being able to have the opportunity to be where there is a older age class. I've never shot a record deer over there. Don't think I've ever even seen one. But on a average weekend hunt over there. I can see more 2.5 year old bucks than I can see the entire season in my county...and I have not killed a buck there in a few years...

Years of penned up frustrations of hunting all year hard and never even seeing anything older than yearlings was unleashed upon the reduction zone population this year. That's all that tagging was about.

If the deer aren’t there, move elsewhere to hunt. Pretty simple. I’m not going to sit and complain and try to get rules change to fit my agenda. I’m going to make moves for myself to solve the problem.

I’m going to make moves for myself to solve the problem. Apparently you didn't read. I already said the reason I moved to reduction spot was cause I wasn't seeing what I wanted in the county. It's where the action was. Mainly cause there's not much gun action around those houses.

Illinois you have to draw for gun antler tags. There is a quota. I've never purchased a gun tag there. Never wanted to spend the dough for only 7 days time. I'm not that good...

Illinois is not a OBR state, you can kill two. residents can kill them with whatever weapon they choose, nonresidents can only kill one with a bow and one with a firearm, it is a money making racket for sure but I keep buying the tags...

I just went to lunch with 7 of us today. None of them are on here. But 6 of them were hunters. When I told them about the survey and the shortened gun season questions none had even heard of it. But 4 of them said bring it.

The population difference is what keeps me buying them. And I was buying them back when it was $126 for the same combo. Just for the chance at being in a area where there is multiple deer older than baskets...

You could always just fill your bundle in the reduction zone.

That's what I do. But he who sits on his toes and does not voice his opinion will not have a chance a getting what they want. And I've been to DNR meetings and voiced my opinion before. And they do listen...
