Mainly cause there's not much gun action around those houses. More like not much hunting action there when compared to rural areas, regardless of weapon. I've never purchased a gun tag there. Never wanted to spend the dough for only 7 days time. I'm not that good... Yet you previously said that 7 days is plenty for Indiana residents to get a buck with a firearm. š

And I didn't say it was plenty. I said if you ain't good enough to get it in 7 days then better luck next year...

I really don't know... Illinois you have to draw for gun antler tags. There is a quota. I've never purchased a gun tag there. Never wanted to spend the dough for only 7 days time. I'm not that good... Oh Iāve read every single post in this thread. Most of itās ridiculous, but whatever. So you made the change, good for you now you can quit complaining about no deer and move on. Maybe youāll get an alien one of these days. I never double dipped before and most years donāt have a shot at two good bucks Iād want to shoot anyway. I pass plenty hoping my kids will get a chance at them. Donāt bother me one way or the other. Donāt think it does anything for the herd though. A lot of people I know that hunt changed their mentality as they matured as hunters and the obr had nothing to do with that.

That's what I do. But he who sits on his toes and does not voice his opinion will not have a chance a getting what they want. And I've been to DNR meetings and voiced my opinion before. And they do listen... Gotcha

If the deer arenāt there, move elsewhere to hunt. Pretty simple. Iām not going to sit and complain and try to get rules change to fit my agenda. Iām going to make moves for myself to solve the problem. Yepā¦God did not make all deer habitat alike. God did not make all pheasant habitat alike. Iāve NEVER see a pheasant in southern Indiana except the put and take ones at Glendale. The DNR needs to put in a OPR per season. No, Iām not going to go north where there are some pheasants. The DNR needs to provide me with pheasants to shoot. They donāt have to be āmatureā pheasants. Young ones will do. Never mind..no pheasants Down here please DNR man..Iād rather whine about the lack of pheasants.

And if you don't speak up about not having any pheasants then you never will. You probably should whine a little louder and the DNR might, just might hear your complaints. Then one day you will see a survey come out that says would you like to see some restrictions to help get a better pheasant population in your area. All the guys will roll on the floor laughing at you.

Perhaps the state needs to be divided into three zones. The northern one has a deer hunting season every third year, the central one every other year, and the southern one every year?

Nonsense again...but I do like the zones...oops, maybe you meant north zone gets a gun season only ever 3 years. Is that what you mean?

This latest survey has nothing to do with people asking the DNR for those things.

I realize that, but it sure made me feel as though they read my mind. You need to realize I've been saying this shortened gun season for 25 years. I started hunting Illinois around 97. That's when I noticed the difference.

Nonsense again...but I do like the zones...oops, maybe you meant north zone gets a gun season only ever 3 years. Is that what you mean? No, I meant zero hunting. How are you going to increase the herd in those areas unless you stop killing them? Obviously making counties "A" or "1" isn't doing the job. Seriously though, I do understand your frustration. Your county has low deer habitat and high hunter numbers. I honestly don't know how to rectify that.

I don't think it's poor habitat. It's just that most properties are 10 to 30 acres. That makes for high hunter density. And I don't think we have low deer numbers. Just lots of hunters that totally out number the buck numbers in my county.
