The sun's already up and over the tree line behind my house yet, there's still turkeys roosted.

Like I said I don’t know much about turkey’s
But I had to run to Menards and get some stuff for a project so I back out of the garage this AM I thought all the turkeys had moved on turn and head down the drive looked over and a hen was standing in the yard She drops to the ground drops her head she dang near disappears in the grass granted it’s taller haven’t mowed yet but I’m tell ya she dang near was flat as a pancake I stopped and watched her she never moved is that a normal thing every other time I’ve caught them off guard they ran

Shot a couple of my new bismuth shells and what a difference they made. At 50 yards they knocked a baseball size hole out of the target backing 😂 Last year I used 23/4 inch long beard xrs and didn’t think I needed anything else.

Weather for Wednesday looks great in my opinion. Not too cold not too warm now we just need the birds to cooperate.

The woods have definitely grownup… Same up north. By far the earliest green up I can remember, and yet snow/sleet off and on all weekend. We have always started the season with nothing, and then full tilt green by the end.

Things have definitely greened up in Jasper County. I'll mostly be hunting field edge opening morning behind my house. If I don't succeed early, then I'll move to my permission farm around 10 and chase some toms that have hopefully left their hens.

Need some quick advice. I've always been a run and gun hunter up until this morning when I stumbled across my first roost tree and had 4 or 5 toms together. How early do I need to get in without truly disturbing them or alerting them?

How early do I need to get in without truly disturbing them or alerting them? I knew I was going to be close this morning. I had my decoys out in in my blind just before 5am CST

I've set up under roost trees many times, and only blew them out 2 or 3 times. Only had 3 fly down to me, one which I killed. Others always went another direction. Whether bad luck, or they knew I was there, don't know?
