Was finally able to get out this morning and go for a walk through the woods. Saw 5 longbeards in a field as I was pulling down the gravel lane to the gate. There were birds just hammering all over the place. 8:30 came and every single bird went quiet, except one other lone gobble by the time I left around 10:00. Sure was nice to hear them gobble though. Must not be any around the house this year because I’ve yet to hear one.

Coffee on the back porch, watching the sun rise and listening to gobblers. At least three different birds sounding off behind my house.

I got out this afternoon to do a few chores on the main permission farms. Only thing I saw was a couple tracks and a dust bowl.

Those dust bowls can be turkey magnets when it’s warm and dry out. I sit over one each year. Killed my gobbler there three years ago.

Went out today at one of the properties in Tennessee before work. Dead silent but saw a couple flocks in fields around the property. Hopefully I can get my buddy his first turkey tomorrow morning!

Saw 2 long beards crossing the road yesterday. Easy 10" ropes hanging off them. Probably best population I've seen close to home in a couple years. Have seen several roadkill now too. NE LaPorte county area.
I do most all my turkey hunting down in Marshall county. The bird population there is worth the ride for me. As I always state, only downfall is my 2nd shift work schedule makes for tired mornings. Still worth it. HA!
